REGIONAL MONTHLY UPDATE: 3RP ACHIEVEMENTS OCTOBER 2017 These dashboards reflect selected aggregate achievements of 3RP regional sectoral indicators on the humanitarian and resilience responses of more than 240 partners involved in the 3RP Inter-Agency Appeal in Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey. Indicators are regionally aggregated and targets are based on full funding of the 3RP 2017 and an expected population of 4.7 million refugees by end-2017.

Regional Monthly Dashboard October 2017 PROTECTION The number of Syrian refugees in the region rose to 5.31 million at the end of October 2017. There are now over 3.2 million Syrian refugees registered refugees in Turkey, over 1 million in Lebanon, some 654,000 in Jordan, almost 246,000 in Iraq and above 126,000 in Egypt, indicating the generosity of host countries across the region. Highlights of the Protection Sector across the region in October include: In Egypt, structured and sustained psycho-social support (PSS) and child protection programmes were extended to a total of 3,142 children, adolescents and youth. The number of newly registered Syrian unaccompanied children continues to rise, standing now at 29. During the reporting period, 3RP partners continued to focus on prevention and response to sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) incidents. 390 Syrian SGBV survivors were identified and received multi-sectoral response services, including quality individual case management, access to emergency medical care, psychosocial counselling and legal assistance. In Iraq, protection monitoring was carried out for 4,992 Syrian households. In addition, total of 120 household-level protection assessments were conducted to identify various protection concerns. In Jordan, Durable solutions technical working group has been established to discuss durable solutions for refugees. In Lebanon, protection sector partners continued providing service on legal counseling, community based protection services, SGBV prevention, psychosocial support to children, training on child protection and SGBV. In Turkey, more than 9,130 children received specialized child protection services and almost 8,000 Syrian received SGBV services.

Regional Monthly Dashboard October 2017 FOOD SECURITY So far in 2017, food sector partners have reached approximately 2.51 million individuals with food assistance through cash, voucher or in-kind modality, this represents almost 100 per cent of the overall target for 2017. Over 8,186 individuals also received food and agricultural livelihoods support. Some highlights of the Food Security Sector across the region in October include: In Egypt, 75,445 beneficiaries received food assistance with approximate USD 22. In Iraq, more than 56,615 Syrian refugees received food assistance with approximately USD 19 per person per month whereas 1,200 Syrian refugees and vulnerable host community received training and equipment support for food related livelihoods. In Jordan, some 388,305 Syrian refugees residing urban areas and 107,899 in camps benefited from the voucher programme via cash based transfers. Support to national school meals programme has been resumed in October reaching more than 300,000 school children with date bars and around 25,000 with healthy meals in communities. In addition more than 30,000 Syrian school children has been reached in Za'atari and Azraq camps. In Lebanon, more than 782,000 beneficiaries received food assistance and 548 people supported on agricultural employments. In Turkey, more than 149,522 beneficiaries reached by the food security and agriculture sector so far.

Regional Monthly Dashboard October 2017 EDUCATION As at the end of October, more than 1 million Syrian children across the region are enrolled in formal education in schools located in camps and host communities. Additionally, over 95,000 Syrian children are enrolled in non-formal education. Some highlights of the Education Sector across the region in October include: The new 2017-2018 school year has started. In Egypt, more than 160 children with special needs were assisted to enroll in schools that meets their educational and care needs. In addition 800 UASCs were assisted to enroll in schools. In Iraq, 70% of refugee children enrolled either in formal and non-formal education programme by end of October. In Jordan, Learning for All Campaign reached 126,707 school aged children including 16,876 out-of-school children. Since August, 34,461 children were supported with registration through Catch Up centres and Drop Out centres. Learning support services have reached more than 107,000 children since the beginning of the year. In Lebanon, prior to the official opening of public schools for the new academic year, 3RP partners distributed school supplies to 450,000 Lebanese and Syrian refugee children in support of their enrolment in 1,282 Lebanese public schools. In Turkey, as of end October over 588,500 Syrian refugee children were enrolled in temporary education centres and Turkish public schools across the country, a 23 per cent increase compared to 2016.

Regional Monthly Dashboard October 2017 HEALTH AND NUTRITION By the end of October, approximately 2.14 million primary health care consultations were provided, and over 151,000 referrals were made to secondary or tertiary health care, representing 56 per cent and 66 per cent of the respective 2017 targets. The number of health facilities supported across the region stands now at 236, also 4,010 health care staff has been trained and over 707,800 children have been immunized. Some highlights of the Health and Nutrition Sector across the region in October include: 3RP partners in Egypt have provided 11,497 curative and preventive primary healthcare consultations to Syrian refugees. Among these, 5,098 patients were followed up and received monthly treatment for non-communicable diseases. In Iraq, 21,749 primary healthcare consultations were conducted in the nine camps. 1,195 patients were referred from the camps to secondary and tertiary health facilities. In Lebanon, more than 186,000 primary health care consultations were provided during the month. In Jordan, qualitative and quantitative analysis of Mental Health and Psychosocial needs and service utilization has been completed. In Turkey, 46,100 primary health care consultation conducted.

Regional Monthly Dashboard October 2017 BASIC NEEDS The continued strategic priority for the Basic Needs Sector is to provide assistance to meet the ongoing basic needs of Syrian refugees, based on a multi-sectoral household profiling and identification methodology, specific to each country. As of October, 125,981 households have received core relief items in-kind, which is 56 per cent of the targeted population. Approximately 2 million people benefited from cash assistance to families and over 203,600 households received seasonal support through cash or in-kind assistance. Some highlights of the Basic Needs Sector across the region in October include: In Egypt and Lebanon, the sector partners continue to provide unconditional, sector specific cash assistance during the month of October. The Basic Needs Working Group in Jordan provided around USD 5,904,184 worth of regular cash and non-food items to vulnerable beneficiaries from the refugee and host community. In Turkey, some 1.35 million individuals have benefited from cash-based interventions and 329,740, individuals received core relief items since the beginning of the year.

Regional Monthly Dashboard October 2017 SHELTER During 2017, some 60,000 households living inside and outside camps have been reached with shelter assistance and shelter upgrades. Some highlights of the Basic Needs Sector across the region in October include: In Iraq, some 38 per cent of the Syrian refugee population lives in camps, where the sector’s main interventions take place. In camps almost 97 per cent (17,240) of shelter units were improved (by including concrete slabs, kitchens, family latrines and showers, walls of 60 cm height and a roof with tent) and works continue for the remaining 3 per cent (589 shelter units). Furthermore, 13,499 shelter units (75 per cent) have been upgraded. So far, six quick impact projects out of 14 were completed and the remaining are under implementation to which the shelter sector has provided technical support and has monitored the implementation. In Jordan, the recently implemented vulnerable shelter support programme, which aims to provide the most vulnerable households, living in very substandard conditions, with direct shelter repairs and maintenance, is ongoing. In Lebanon, shelter partners continue to support maintenance of makeshift shelters including rehabilitation/upgrade of sub-standard buildings.

Regional Monthly Dashboard October 2017 WASH So far in 2017, over 1.17 million individuals have benefited from access to adequate quantity of safe water through improved longer-term water systems. Approximately 332,265 people have gained access to appropriate sanitation facilities and services, and over 506,600 people have access to adequate quantity of safe water through temporary provision. More than 734,000 people have experienced hygiene promotion sessions. Highlights of the WASH Sector across the region in October include: In Iraq, two elevated water-storage tanks have been completed in Domiz camp. Water quality tests had been conducted taking more than 3,000 sample considering possible risk of waterborne diseases in autum. In Jordan, WASH services were provided to 118,649 people, including an estimated 67,118 children, living in Za'atari, Azraq and King Abdulla Park Camps. In Za'atari, Phase 2 of water and wastewater network is currently at 48 per cent completion, with 141 kilometers of water network and 45 kilometers of wastewater pipeline were installed. In Lebanon, 3RP partners continued water, sanitation and hygiene activites through increased collaboration with local authorities to improve ownership, sustainability, costeffectiveness and integration, and reduce social tensions between Syrian refugees and the host communities.

LIVELIHOODS & SOCIAL COHESION

Since the start of 2017, Livelihoods partners assisted 23,835 refugees and host community members with short-term and/or longterm employment opportunities and 89,976 youth and adults in increasing their employability through job training, internships, job placement and language courses. In addition, 53,677 host community members and refugees have participated in community based activities to promote social cohesion. Highlights across the region in October include: In Egypt, more than 947 individuals has access to self-employment so far in addition to 91 individuals having access to wage employment. More than 1,431 individuals are trained on livelihoods opportunities. In Iraq, 80% of male Syrian refugees aged between 15 to 64 are employed in Erbil governorate compared to 70% of male from host community. In Dahuk, the employment rate for male refugees is 75% compared to 63% for male from the host community. However refugees has less financial security than host population. Refugees living in rural areas has limited opporttunities to find employment compared to host population. In Jordan, more than 71,426 work permits issues by MOI since the beginning of 2016 with 48% of those accounted in 2017 alone. In Lebanon, support on MSMEs and Cooperatives, working on public infrastructure, training on marketable skills continued during the month. In Turkey, technical and vocational trainings continued including income generating activities, support on job placement, selfemployment, etc. during the month.
