REP News This long weekend will see RHA having senior teams playing representative hockey. The men will be playing in Toowoomba in the Men’s Masters O’40 and O’50. We wish them fun and success and not too many injuries. (someone keep an on eye on Paul this year!!) The inaugural Open Women’s team, playing in Brisbane, will introduce Redlands hockey to this event. The ladies have been training for several weeks now, along-side of the men, and we hope they enjoy the challenges of this tournament. Why not spend a day watching and supporting these Great Redlands teams ? Click here for the game timetable for the Opens competition. Thank you to the senior committee for their organising of these events and to Rob Gilmore for coaching the women. Also thanks to the managers, John Collins and Maureen Carter and the umpires Jackson Freeman and Ian Mackinder and Paul Sciberras Women's Masters nominations have opened and will close on the 8th May. The women’s masters will be held in Bundaberg this year from the 22nd July to the 24th. Traditionally we send 2 teams and by all accounts everyone has a fabulous time and they play some hockey as well. Click here to register.

UMPIRES Click here to see if you are on umpire duty this week.

Local Rules for RHA can be viewed here.

Effective from last Saturday 23/04/16, when you arrive for your designated duty, please can you first go to the Central Tech Bench area (between fields 2 and 3). This is so that the Officiating Sub-Committee can update you of any amended rules and other items to be aware of for the day. Therefore make sure you arrive at least 20 minutes before your start time. Thanks for your continued efforts and support - you each make a big difference! Umpire payments are being made the following week after you umpire, please see Brian Johnston to collect your payment.

Sponsored Teams and shirts. A number of teams have sponsors and as part of their payment they receive logos printed on the backs of their team shirts. Managers, please check your player’s shirts to ensure they have the correct sponsorship logos on them. (refer to sponsors page). If they are incorrect please collect them and swap them over for either one with the correct logo or a plain shirt without logos. Once this has happened the shirts need to be collected and taken to Sportsf1rst in Capalaba so logos can be added to the shirts. Photo day is at the beginning of May so this will need to be finalised by then.

PHOTOS. Saturday 7th May is our annual photo day. ALL teams must participate, a timetable will be sent out to the team managers, please come dressed in your full team uniform; team shirt, team socks, black or navy shorts or skorts and wearing your best smile. Our photographer is Chris West. Every junior will receive a copy and seniors can order theirs's, Team photos go into our annual report. DESTINATION HOCKEY - watch this space to see how we celebrate National Volunteers week from the 9th May to the 15th.

Fundraising Mother’s Day raffle tickets went out a couple of weeks ago to the youngest in all families including seniors. If you didn’t receive yours please contact your manager to ask for these at this week's training as they must all be returned whether sold or not by Saturday 7 May and we don’t want you miss out on the fabulous opportunity to be in the draw to win a night away at the wonderful Mantra Mooloolaba in a 1 bedroom apartment courtesy of Andrew Laming. Lots of other fantastic prizes to be won. Check out the first few prizes here and keep your eyes peeled for the pictures on Facebook in the day or so. Last week’s weekly raffle was very well supported and again thank you to our wonderful volunteers for selling tickets. The Broncos tickets were drawn at our Seniors function and won by Assad Barakat. Our volunteer who wins a voucher this week was from the U9 White team. I will get your voucher to you too.

The Next round’s weekly raffle on 7 May is for a $30 Banjoes voucher. Don’t forget to take your turn if it comes up on the roster as people really do want to buy tickets and have a chance to win the prizes. You’re also helping our association with much needed funds every time we fundraise. You may earn a credit back on your volunteer levy after a couple of duties on this. The Cadbury chocolate drive starts at the end of May, but to assist us with ordering and to minimise the number of boxes brought back, please advise Angela on [email protected] or 0419 197 396 if you do not wish to receive a box. If no advice is received and confirmed back to you by Monday, 9 May a box will be ordered for your family and it will be your responsibility to sell it and return the money by the due date. Likewise, if you would love to take more than one box on delivery day please also advise so they can be prepared for you. Don’t forget every box sold earns you a credit back on your volunteer levy. Fundraising Committee - I have a little band of willing helpers this year to assist with various activities such as labelling, collating, making phone calls, picking up prizes and helping me with setting up, packing up and takings on Saturdays, but as always we could do with some more help. If you can spare some time on a Saturday or during the week to help us with this I’d love to hear from you. We have some major events we’d like to put on this year, but to put it together we could use some more help. Again, every hour you put in results in a credit back on your volunteer levy. Thanks for all your assistance. Angela Woodall Fundraising Coordinator

Team Reports Under 16 White team is now officially known as White Wolves. Congratulations White Wolves on how you are gelling as a team. The White Wolves coach Paul is proud of how they are going: following direction and using the skills they are learning. Luca had a full on game and just did not stop. Zali was showing the way in defence, displaying some really good examples of shutting the opposition attack down with good foot work and hanging back without over committing. The backs, including Ejay the goalie, were very solid in their defence while the halves and forwards worked together to move the ball forward. Particularly impressive was a great goal from Zali, from a great pass from Rhys in the centre. Well done also to Rhys, and Nick from the Red team, who both scored off a penalty corner. It was another hard game, but with team work, focus and determination, White Wolves won against the Red team 4:1. Dee - Team Manager Team Managers - if you would like to add news to the newsletter please email a short blurb as above and with a picture to info@redlandshockey before Monday each week. Thanks.
