Request for Proposals Landscape Standard Logo + Visual Identity Design

The Landscape Standard project is funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI). The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) supports this initiative on the basis of a decision adopted by the German Bundestag.

Project Overview Verra seeks a marketing and design firm with expertise in branding, logo and web design to help build a new brand for the Landscape Standard (LS). LS is a framework to help companies, governments, financiers, and donors credibly assess and report on progress towards environmental, social and economic sustainability in productive landscapes. The Landscape Standard seeks the creation of a new logo and visual identity that enables the project to communicate to a range of stakeholders. We expect the full brand process to take approximately 3-5 months. Organizational Background/Overview What is LS: The Landscape Standard (LS) is an emerging tool to help drive landscape-scale sustainability. LS will provide science-based information on the state and trajectory of sustainability within individual landscapes, linking performance with incentives and finance to advance sustainability strategies. For more information on the LS, see http://landscapestandard.org The LS is being developed and managed by Verra, Rainforest Alliance and the Climate, Community & Biodiversity Alliance in partnership with Proforest, IUCN, Nature Conservation & Research Center, and Solidaridad.

Current Situation and Goals Context of our current situation: Verra and the consortium of partners have begun the development of the Landscape Standard, and will shortly thereafter begin carrying out pilot project activities across diverse production contexts and regions in Africa (Ghana) and Latin America (Peru, Guatemala, and Costa Rica) to validate its model. We are also in the process of recruiting members for different advisory bodies at the global and local level, and starting to raise awareness of this initiative with potential users. What we seek: As part of the development process, we will require an interim brand to communicate externally about LS, once there is more clarity around what the final product will look like, there will be a need for a second round development process to update the brand (likely in 2020). The interim brand will need to recognize the participation and ownership of the three primary secretariat members of the initiative, as well as the other global partners. The goal of this initiative is to drive uptake and use of the Landscape Standard in order to improve sustainability outcomes in target landscapes, and thus our primary audience will be potential users of the standard. Because of the different type of stakeholders engaged in these projects (governments, businesses and local communities), and the unique position the standard occupies among them, we are seeking not only a recognizable brand, but one to which the different stakeholders from different regions can identify and relate to.

The key audience for Landscape Standard communications materials are potential users of the standard, including: ●

Commodity companies, that are seeking to scale up sourcing from and investment in landscapes that demonstrate progress or high performance, in order to meet sustainability commitments

Development finance institutions and investors, donors and governments that want to improve sustainability of landscapes producing global commodities to increase economic, social, and environmental outcomes of production

Landscape actors including local governments, producers and civil society seeking to deploy coordinated strategies and plans for improved sustainability on the ground, and to attract finance and incentives

Project Scope We are looking for a consultant to undertake the following activities:

● Lead the development of a logo for this initiative ● Establish a visual identity for the consortium and create a basic, short visual identity standards manual or brand book that governs the use of the identity

● Develop print collateral templates (e.g. for letterhead, fact sheets, PowerPoints) ● Develop a basic website (consisting of 3-5 simple pages) for the initiative, preferably built on Word Press with both English and Spanish (our internal team can lead and/or correct translations, if necessary), potentially including: ○
