Metal roofing offers many attractive features not available with traditional roofing. The most common myth about metal roofing is that when installed on a home they are loud when it rains. That couldn’t be further from the truth. The fact is that metal roofs on homes are often installed over plywood sheathing, felt paper, and then you have insulation. Therefore, the sound generated by rain or hail would be similar to other roofing materials. The myth of a noisy metal roof comes from barns that were built with steel roofing installed on open framing with no insulation or sound buffers. Can metal be installed over my existing roof? In most cases, yes! Metal roofing weighs less than 1.6 pounds per square foot. It is highly unlikely to overload existing roofs. Metal roofing can usually be installed over asphalt roofing with the use of furring strips.

How durable is a metal roof? Metal roofing is recognized for its resistance to harsh weather conditions. It stands up better against wind, hail, ice, snow and fire compared to other forms of roofing materials.
