RESILIENCE MONTH: COMMUNITY CALENDAR OF EVENTS January 2017 is RESILIENCE MONTH in Muskegon. This calendar is a growing list of events which promote and strengthen our collective ability to recover, learn from hardship, and build on individual and community strengths. Soup & Service: A Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration Monday, January 16 from 11:00-1:00 at United Way (31 E. Clay) Hosted by United Way, soup lunch is provided.  GIVE. Donate school supplies for classrooms in need (crayons, scissors, dry erase markers, high lighters, folders, tape, pencils, paper) or a non-perishable item for local food pantries.  ADVOCATE. Learn how you can be an effective advocate for high quality early childhood care and education, which are proven to help set a solid foundation for a child's success in school and beyond.  VOLUNTEER. Register to serve within one of several opportunities that support the education of our local young people. For those 55 and over, join our Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) to mentor a child with literacy needs.
