Resources on the Blended Learning Toolkit Website The Blended Learning Toolkit is an open education resource (OER) for anyone teaching or intending to teach a blended course. Review these resources for items of value for faculty development at your institution. Process - Best practices, strategies, models, and course design principles. ● Building Your Course - You will find best practices and course design principles here. ● Examples of Approaches - examples of successful blended courses, integration ● Institutional Capacity and Readiness - institutional commitment and investments Model Courses ● Two OER prototype courses in Composition and Algebra are available in this section. Under the creative commons license, anyone may adopt and modify these courses. ● For those not teaching composition or algebra, the generic template structure provides the basic structure and features needed in any blended course. Effective Practices ● Design and delivery principles - A list of design and delivery principles are listed here based on research in educational literature. ● Student success strategies - There are a number of strategies outlined in this section to support student success in blended courses. ● UCF’s teaching online pedagogical repository (TOPR) - UCF created a wiki to capture online instructional strategies from faculty and instructional designers. You will find a description of the strategy, artifacts (examples), and scholarly references for each strategy. Tags are included with each strategy so you can search the repository. Evaluation Resources -Assessment and data collection protocols, including survey instruments and standards. ● Tips and guidance - Educational research invariably involves students. Therefore, you are subject to rules for human subject research. This section includes assessment and data collection protocols to hlep you navigate through human subject research. ● Survey instruments - Cover letters and survey instructions are provided for faculty and student research. Faculty Development - Faculty development is a key element in a successful blended learning initiative. ● BlendKit course - The BlendKit course was delivered summer 2011. All the materials are available to you to deliver your own BlendKit course. ● Composition Teacher Training course - Elizabeth Wardle and Deborah Weaver conducted a course to prepare faculty to use their composition course. They are still available for questions and you can sign up for access to their training course. Research ● Organizations and conferences - Key educational organizations are provided on this page. Most of these organizations have annual conferences. Some have multiple conferences and webinars throughout the year. ● Journals - A list of both peer reviewed and non-peer reviewed jounals, newsletters and magazines with blended learning articles are provided. ● Bibliography - A list of articles addressing blended learning are provided in APA format.
