CREATES HISTORY REWARDING MANAGEMENT EXCELLENCE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE COUNTRY.
Sri Lanka Branch of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) of UK, the accredited professional institution for management, held the first ever Management Excellence Awards Night to recognize brilliance in the field of management on 29th March 2018, at the Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo. CMI based in UK with over 140,000 members worldwide, is the only chartered professional body dedicated to promoting the highest standards in management and leadership excellence. CMI Sri Lanka’s goal is to be one of the most recognized and respected professional bodies in Sri Lanka in line with the vision of its parent body “Better led and managed organizations”.
CMI has been backing professional managers for more than 60 years. The mission of CMI is to increase the number and standard of professionally qualified managers which is achieved through their members who are at the forefront in many organizations throughout the world.

The President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena commented on a special aspect of the awards: Quote “It is noteworthy that this awards ceremony honours the three main contributing sectors of the Sri Lankan economy: Agriculture, Industry and Services. Professional management of businesses and enterprises whether large or small is vital in today’s diverse and competitive economy.” Unquote. “CMI is inspired by a vision where we see better managed organizations in a world where leaders and managers are as valued as the other professionals,” said Ms Anne Francke, CEO, CMI UK in her message. The President CMI Sri Lanka Branch, Mr Malraj B. Kiriella welcoming the gathering at the awards ceremony, said a professionally managed organization should have the capability to motivate managers into being compelling vision providers, which is the foundation for leadership.
The Management Excellence Awards was launched on 1st August 2017 at the Kingsbury Hotel, Colombo and was attended by a distinguished gathering of both public and private sector professionals and media.
