Richmond Reporter A Word From Our Administrator Hello Richmond Families, It has been a great first three weeks of school. The children are settling in and learning is off to a great start. Richmond has offered three volunteer sessions so far this year for all interested parent/community volunteers. Those who are interested in volunteering on a regular basis in the classrooms are required to attend the volunteer training. Based on interest, a fourth training may be scheduled. If you were unable to attend the first three sessions, please call Jane Vetter and inform her. If there is a need, a fourth training can still be conducted.

Please note that we are still seeking a new URS (United for Reading Success) Coordinator. URS is a first grade reading support. The coordinator recruits and trains all the volunteer tutors. In addition, the coordinator’s responsibilities include setting up a daily schedule (using teachers’ class schedules), serve as a contact for tutors, assist tutors with sub issues as needed, and communicate students’ progress to classroom teachers. For more information regarding the coordinator’s role, please contact Mrs. Lisa MacCluskey at [email protected]. What’s New? The Department of Public Instruction has informed Wisconsin Public Schools about the new state test. This spring, Richmond students will be taking the Wisconsin Forward Exam. This assessment will cover English language arts and mathematics in grades 3-8 and science in grades 4 and 8. The Wisconsin Forward Exam is a computerized fixed-form assessment. This means that all students will receive the same future questions, regardless of the performance on previous questions. As a reminder, our school will participate in emergency drills throughout the year. On a monthly basis, we will practice fire, tornado, or lockdown drills. Our goal is to proactively prepare our staff and students in the event an emergency situation would occur and to provide a safe and secure learning environment for your children. Have a wonderful weekend, Gena Santharam Principal/Director of Special Education Richmond School District
