Right Whale Day Monday, April 17th 10:00 am to 2:00 pm This event includes many fun learning activities, for kids and adults, that focus on fostering greater awareness and appreciation of the endangered North Atlantic right whale. FREE for Members and with Regular Admission. • Navigate through the Right Whale Obstacle Course, as you face the human-caused hazards that Right Whales must overcome as they swim through the ocean

• Listen to the story ‘Dario and the Whale,’ read by author Cheryl Lawton Malone

• Climb inside life-sized inflatable Right and Humpback Whales to see the biology of these creatures first hand!

• End the day by enjoying Right Whale Day cake

• Make Right Whale magnets and whale origami

Spring Vacation Week Activities Tuesday, April 18 – Friday, April 21 Free for Museum Members and with Museum Admission

10 am – 12 pm Inflatable Whale Climb inside a life-sized inflatable humpback whale

10:00 am – 12:00 pm Kids’ Crafts and Activities Learn how to feed our friendly squid Sam, create logbooks to take home, and learn about Right Whales.

11 am AND 1 pm Museum Highlights Tours Group tours led by Docents throughout the Museum focused on some of the most historically significant artifacts and visitor favorites, including stories of New Bedford’s role in U.S. history.

Thursday, April 20 only 12:30 pm – 1 pm To Catch a Whale Docents will share the story of life leading up to and aboard a whaleship. How did they sign on to a voyage? What did they get paid? What did captains promise their crew?

2:00 pm Curator Tour 45-minute tour of exhibition galleries guided by a Museum Curator.

Friday, April 21 only 10:30 am All Aboard the Lagoda Join the crew of Captain C. Weade on board the largest model whaleship in the world – the Lagoda - for an adventure on the high seas!
