at Readington Middle School! We are interested in bring Girls on Track, an after school program that encourages preteen and early teen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running, to our 6th-8th grade girls in the spring, but are assessing participant interest and availability prior to proceeding with plans to launch the program. The program runs for twelve weeks, beginning the week of March 10, and weaves training for a 5K run with fun, experience-based lessons that improve self-awareness, build a collection of positive experiences, and inspire life-changing confidence through accomplishment. Should there be enough interest to bring the program to RMS and a sufficient number of volunteer coaches, we will meet after school two days a week on days and times to be determined. Registration will open in late January/ early February (online via the Girls on the Run of Hunterdon, Bucks & Warren Counties website, www.gotrhunterdon.org) and enrollment will be limited to 15 girls, who will be enrolled on a first-come, first-served basis at that time. The cost of the program is $125, which covers 24 sessions, materials, a GOTR t-shirt, incentives, and registration for the Girls on the Run 5K event, which is scheduled to take place in Flemington on June 1. Scholarships to help offset the program fee are available to those who qualify for financial assistance. Please contact GOTR Program Coordinator, Lisa Hughes at [email protected] by November 10 if your daughter is interested in taking part in the program, if you are willing to serve as a Head or Assistant coach for the team, or to request information on financial assistance or a scholarship application. Additional information on our program can be found on our website, www.gotrhunterdon.org.
