Rock ‘n’ Roll Liverpool Spectator Tips BEST PLACES TO SEE THE RACE AND HEAR GREAT MUSIC Liverpool will come alive with the sound of music…from classic rock to jazz and everything in between, the streets will reverberate with good tunes. Pick one of the 20 stages along the course where you can dance to the area’s best party bands. Or cheer runners along at various scenic landmarks and community events around Liverpool. Start Line: The race starts off with an electric atmosphere at Albert Dock, one of the most visited attractions in the UK and a World Heritage Site. The first band performs just beyond the start line on a pontoon boat in Salthouse Dock. The Royal Liver Building: The course continues past even more historical attractions at mile one on Water Street. The Royal Liver Building is sited at the Pier Head Building and, along with the neighbouring Cunard Building and Port of Liverpool Building, is one of Liverpool's Three Graces, which line the city's waterfront. The Royal Liver Building is one of the most recognisable landmarks in the city of Liverpool and is home to two fabled Liver Birds (pronounced ‘Lie-Ver’) that watch over the city and the sea. Legend has it that were these two birds to fly away, then the city would cease to exist. (Mile .5) Tithebarn Street: Participants will run past the second band stage on Tiethebarn street/Vauxhall Road. This is where the Full Marathon Runners break away from the ½ Marathon and head off to the North of the City for the next 9 miles. (Mile 1) Derby Square: Home to the Queen Victoria Monument, Derby Square is the former site of the Liverpool Castle, which was demolished in the 1700’s. We have rocking music taking over the square all day! Great spot to catch the ½ Marathon runners early on, and the Full Marathon runners as they are about to pass the 40% mark through their run. (Mile 1.5 – half marathon) / Mile 10.5 – full marathon) China Town: The largest and oldest Chinese community in Europe is located in Liverpool’s China Town. (Mile 2.5 - half marathon / Mile 11.5 – full marathon) Princes Park/ Princes Avenue: The surrounding area is known to have the oldest black community in the UK. (Mile 4.5 – half marathon / 13.5 – full marathon)

Sefton Park – This is arguably the best known and most loved park by locals. Lush green space, with plenty of space to view the race and hear some great music! All runners will rack up some mileage in the park, so it will be a great spot to see your friends/family as they run! (Mile 5.5 – half marathon / 15 – full marathon) Watersports Centre / Mariners Wharf – The party continues as the race nears the finish. The Watersports Centre is open to the community and spectators can celebrate while cheering on runners. (Mile 12.5 – half marathon / Mile 25.5 – full marathon)

Marathon Only Spectator Spots: Everton FC Stadium / Goodison Park: It wouldn’t be a celebration without some football. The marathon course runs by both Football Club stadiums starting with the Everton Football Stadium. There is also a band stage in Goodison Park to continue rocking and rolling along the course. (Mile 5) Stanley Park: In between both football clubs, participants will run around the beautiful Stanley Park, where the local community is hosting a fun fair and carnival. (Mile 6) Liverpool FC / Anfield: Liverpool FC fans will get an extra boost of excitement as they get a chance to catch a glimpse of the football stadium. Construction to a new stand is ongoing, so we have to keep our distance this year. FUN FACT – The building project manager for the stand development, shares the same name as one of the most famous Liverpool Players of all time! (Mile 7) High 5 on the Hill / St Domingo Road: Spectators won’t be the only ones encouraging participants on race day, High5 has adopted the steepest section of the course at around mile 8 which sees quite a tough rise up St Domingo Road. High5 on the Hill Helpers will encourage participants up the hill, there is some music to build the pace, and then High5’s helpers will be dishing out much needed High 5’s to all the runners! (Mile 8) Everton Park Valley: Enjoy spectacular views of the city skyline. This is the highest land point in Liverpool. (Mile 8.5)
