INVITATION

Rolling Stock Summer School 8th to 12th September 2014 Cracow, Poland An introductory short course is being offered for European Railway Engineering students starting a postgraduate degree in a rolling stock related topic and for researchers starting their career in the railway industry. Lectures will be given by experts from Universities and industry across Europe, on topics related to their expertise and experience. The latest theoretical developments will be covered as well as current practice in the areas of design, manufacturing and operation of railway vehicles and also wider issues connected with railway transport. This is the 3rd Rolling Stock Summer School, following the successful events held in 2010 and 2012. It aims to provide students with a broad introduction to the field from practicing experts and also to give an insight into the latest research being carried out in several areas. The course also aims to build up links between different institutions across Europe and to provide students with an initial network of contacts that should be useful throughout their career. To allow a wide participation the summer school has been designed to keep the cost to students as low as possible. All lecturers are donating their time and we do not aim to make a profit. The cost of 650 Euros includes all course activities and material, meals and student level accommodation for the intensive 1 week course. LOCATION: The Royal city of Cracow together with its surroundings is a magical place on the river Vistula with its cultural centre around the historical St. Mary’s Basilica, the bustling Cloth Hall and the majestic Royal Castle on the Wawel Hill towering over the whole City.
