Fundraising Weekly Raffle Congratulations to Dee McCarthy for winning the Coconut Coffee House voucher last weekend. We hope you enjoy it soon. There is no weekly raffle this week due to NO senior women's fixtures and many of us, including me, being away for the Women’s Masters State Championships. Next week we’ll be back again. Chocolate Drive Congratulations to the U9 and Senior Men’s teams who have all returned their chocolate money. We don’t have much outstanding now, but we need to finalise this fundraiser. Please, if you have been sent an email to advise your payment is overdue, pay your chocolate money this week. Congratulations also to Chloe Slater from the Senior Women’s Gold team for selling the most boxes. You have won the $50 Rebel gift card for selling 6 boxes of chocolates. I’ll have that once we have finalised the drive. End of season Raffle I will be collating prizes for this in the next week or so. If you have a business and would like to support our raffle, please contact me.

Thanks. Angela, Fundraising Coordinator

SPORTSPASS - Have you activated yours? Everyone should now have received a rewards card in their hockey pack which offers numerous discounts and special offers with retailers across Australia, including everything from entertainment to finance, food, health & fitness, retail, travel and more. These cards usually cost $25 to activate, but all Hockey Queensland athletes have received theirs for free. Go to www.sportspass.com.au to register (if you haven’t already) your card for use. A simple guide to doing this was be contained within the hockey pack. This initiative has the potential of being very financially rewarding for our association. There are many daily specials on the website that you can access and if you can sell another card, (from that website) Redlands Hockey receive a commission. An easy way for us to raise funds.

Canteen Thankyou to the amazing u16 Gold team, it was fantastic to see so many helpers throughout the day....especially guest appearances from the coaches!!!! The carnival canteen was a huge success and fortunately I had 3 amazing helpers Sue, Meegan & Jeff who helped set up, cook and sell at the beginning of the day. Hayley jumped in to help serve at one point and we then also had Terry-Anne Fisher helping a bit in that first 2 hours as well as the last 2 hours. Thankfully Mel, Antonella & Assad also came in and relieved. We gave out 110 FREE sausages to our players & officials, which they gobbled up. It was such a good day and a couple of the Logan families commented on how good our canteen was for Carnival day. Thank you also Antonella and Larnie for the yummy rocky road and cupcakes, unfortunately these were the only donations for the Under 11s cake stall and they went like hot cakes. Next week I will be away with the Women's Masters Team....don't worry - the yummy food will still be available! Come along and see Maddy and Jeff who will be making sure all your rumbling tummies are being fed! Meal deal this week will be Spaghetti with Meatballs $5:50, Beef & Gravy Rolls $4:50 and of course all the usual yummy foods on offer. Thanks all, Stace.

Team Reports Playing Gold is always going to be a tough and exciting game, both teams played off in last years Grand Final and as a result have developed a great rivalry equalled with a great level of respect for each other. Ask the kids from both sides and they know when their playing each other such is their enthusiasm when the draw shows us playing each other. So far this season the teams have played each other twice for two 1-1 draws further strengthening the bond between these two great teams.

The U7s award winners this week: Taylah player of the week

This week though we had four of our regular players out through either injury, illness or holidays meaning we would take the field with only 10 players which included two new to hockey players and two of our super subs from the U/9's so yeah the challenge was there.

Before the game three of our players not taking the field turned up to cheer on their team and give support from the sidelines. To me as coach this was what sport is all about and showcases the family atmosphere we have at Redlands Hockey. Well done Ali, Mitchell and Angelina for your support. Alex Encouragement Award.

The game itself was a see saw event played in great spirits with end to end hockey being showcased. The passing from both sides was great to watch as was the ball movement. What I did love was the immense pressure the game took on in the second half when Red came back from 2-0 down to level. Those last few minutes were again intense with the crowd in full support for all players. In the end a 2-2 draw was a fitting result for two really talented and focused teams, I can't wait for the next time. To my Red Team, a great game played against all the odds, your never say die attitude and effort was amazing to watch. It was really hard to give the player awards at the end of the game however two stand out efforts were from Jerome and Abbey Say. Jerome in goals was simply awesome especially when he had the dynamic duo of Charli M and Charli W hitting the ball at him all game and making some great saves one of which was a penalty stroke. Abby played her best game for the year of half back with a strong and determined effort balancing the need to attack and defend especially when Gold played their winger high. Special mention to our super subs Olivia and Abby who have contributed so much throughout the season and no doubt will hold them in good stead when they step up into the U/12's full time. Well done girls you did yourselves proud. Those not mentioned doesn't mean you didn't play well...you did, you all had great games..... Well done team.....love coaching you guys...you all rock......Mr Sir

It was cold and wet on Saturday, but both the White Wolves and the Maroon U16s played hard, which resulted in another close game. The Wolves were a bit stronger in attack in the first half, scoring off one of their seven short corners, to Maroons one corner. The Maroon team, was more dominant in the second half, earning 8 short corners and scoring 2 goals. However, the White Wolves also scored 2 goals in the second half, to win the game 3-2. Congratulations to Ejay, our goalie who was awarded player of the match and to Michelle Meadows who received the Coaches award. Rhys is also to be congratulated for scoring the goals, all off or around the short corners.

Mini Carnival

Thank you to all participants and helpers for a successful Carnival day, especially Sharon and Lyndsay for organising and coordinating the event. There were a few teams from Logan and we formed some U8, U10 and U12 teams. Even though the day was overcast all the players seemed to be enjoying themselves and had some great games. This was also a great opportunity for our recently selected U11 teams to play some games against each other and the Logan teams. Again thank you to our canteen operators, umpires, tech officials, players, supporters, visitors and our Tournament Director. One for the calendar for 2017!

Women’s Masters This weekend after a couple of months of preparation our 2 RHA Women’s teams will participate in the Masters Tournament at Bundaberg.. We wish them every success and hopefully can take out first place in Div 2 and 5!! Many thanks to Lou Carter and Meegan Thomas for their tireless work in organising this for the teams. REMINDER: There will be No ladies games this weekend at Redlands.
