SAINTS OF THE WEEK SS PERPETUA & FELICITY, MARTYRS. These were two martyrs who died in Carthage in 203 in the persecution under Septimus Severus. The account of their lives and martyrdom, partly written by the Saints themselves, and by eyewitnesses, survives. Father, your love gave Saints Perpetua & Felicty courage to suffer a cruel martyrdom. By their prayers, help us to grow in love of you. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

CAFOD FAMILY FAST DAY: Envelopes are available this weekend for the Family Fast Day, Friday 10th March. Prayer cards are also available in the Narthex. THANK YOU: For last week’s Offertory Collection. (Amount wil be published next week) MARRIAGE MATTERS: First Sunday of Lent (Genesis 2:7-9; 3: 1-7 Romans 5:12-19 Matthew 4:1-11) Avoid independence... Today, both Eve and Jesus are tempted to become independent, to turn away from the love of God. In marriage, we can think we have a right to fulfil our own desires without considering our partner, but we need to share these deepest hopes and dreams, and be prepared to hear the impact on our loved one and our relationship.

SCHOOL NEWS LENT: Our theme in school this half term is pilgrimage, as we journey to a new closeness with God through our everyday learning. We have several activities throughout Lent, some of them beginning this week, to support this: FAIRTRADE FORTNIGHT: Our fairtrade stall continues this week. We are learning about the values of dignity, justice and tolerance. How do we change the world to make it a fairer place? What things must we not tolerate? CARITAS: Thank you to those who donated items for Cornerstone. On Monday, we joined in with the joyful worship in the basement chapel at Cornerstone. 40 DAYS: Please support our '40 days' appeal, which began on Ash Wednesday. Items can be brought into church / school. We are collecting luxuries given up for Lent, and tinned foods this week, focusing our prayer on refugees and displaced people. THANK YOU: Thank you to parishioners who came into school for Mass last Wednesday, and to those who came in to listen to a refugee experience in our worship on Thursday morning; Thank you to all who have donated Rosary Beads to school. MORNING SILENT PRAYER: Each day, during Lent, in the school chapel and Croi, 8:20-8:40am, all welcome. 60 SECONDS OF PRAYER: Every day, during Lent, 3pm. Join us in prayer, wherever you are. ALMANACS: Copies of the 2017 Diocesan Almanac are now available and are on sale from the Piety stall, price £3.00 each.
