PRAYER FOR SUMMER

Father, creator of all, thank you for summer! Thank you for the warmth of the sun and the increased daylight. Thank you for the beauty I see all around me and for the opportunity to be outside and enjoy your creation. Thank you for the increased time I have to be with my friends and family, and for the more casual pace of the summer season. Draw me closer to you this summer. Teach me how I can pray no matter where I am or what I am doing. Warm my soul with the awareness of your presence and light my path with your word and counsel. As I enjoy your creation, create in me a pure heart and a hunger and a thirst for you. Amen. Courtesy of Amy Papageorges

“Help Us Help Those In Need”

WOMEN’S GUILD JUNE MEETING Please join the Women’s Guild on Monday, June 26th in the Parish Hall for our annual night of Bunco—a fun game of dice and chance. No skills or prior experience is necessary! The suggested donation is $5.00 per player. Check in is at 6:00 p.m. and the dice will roll at 6:30 p.m. All women of the parish are invited. MEMBERSHIP General meetings are usually the 4th Monday of each month in the parish hall. To support our ministries and speakers as a member, please contact Joanne Groustra at 562-296-8705 or Lorraine Fiori at 562-296-5163.

DONATION OF SOCKS Helping House at Christ Cathedral is in desperate need of socks of all sizes for men and women. Donations of new socks can be placed in the bin at the side of the church. Thank you for your contributions!

PULSE POINT Our new Parish Center has decades old wiring for electricity and unreliable internet making it very difficult to complete tasks without tripping a breaker or losing connectivity. The house was built in 1937, and remodeled in 1960, as a residence for priests before the internet and personal computers (power monsters) were invented! Our Parish Center is currently being rewired for electricity and the internet so the seven offices located in the Parish Center will be capable of meeting the needs of our parish.

OUR MISSION: Saint Anne Church exists to help us become disciples of Jesus Christ who connect with God, grow in faith, and serve in love.

UNIVERSAL CHURCH COLLECTION This weekend, our parish will take up the Universal Church Collection which combines the Catholic Relief Services Collection and the Peter’s Pence Collection. The mission of Catholic Relief Services is to assist the poor and disadvantaged by alleviating human suffering, promoting development of all people, and fostering charity and justice internationally. CRS aids the poor by first providing direct assistance where needed, and then encouraging these people to help with their own development. CRS touches more than 100 million lives around the world. The Peter’s Pence Collection gives us an opportunity to be a witness of charity to our brothers and sisters around the world. It promotes and supports the work of our Holy Father, enabling him to respond with emergency financial assistance to victims of war, natural disasters, religious persecution, and others most in need of assistance.

YOUTH MINISTRY SUMMER EVENTS Taco Tuesday—On Tuesday, June 27th, meet up with other teens at Zoeter Field (directly behind St. Anne) for tacos and water games from Noon to 2:00 p.m! Beach Reflection—On Wednesday, July 12th, join us for a Beach Reflection from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m! We will meet at St. Anne and walk over together. Come watch the sunset with us! Please email [email protected] for more details. MISSION TRIP St. Anne Youth Ministry will be taking 36 teens on a Mission Trip July 17th through 21st` where we will be serving the poor and vulnerable in our own community. Some of the service sites where we will be serving include: Catholic Worker, Habitat for Humanity, Someone Cares Soup Kitchen, and Orange County Food Bank. Last weekend our teens sold St. Anne reusable tote bags, to help finance their trip. The bags are sold out and will not be available this weekend. Please pray that our teens will have a lifegiving and impactful experience at camp. Thank you for your support and generosity!

LIBERA AT CHRIST CATHEDRAL Libera, the internationally known boys choir from the United Kingdom will, for the first time, perform at Christ Cathedral on July 28th at 7:30 p.m. The distinctive sound of Libera has traveled the world in the last few years. The group’s albums have topped both mainstream and classical charts in many countries, and their recordings hold their place in top-tens alongside major artists like Bocelli. The boys who make up the vocal band Libera have been described as “normal” and “ordinary”. However, as their recordings and performances demonstrate, the music they produce is truly extraordinary. With shimmering, mystical chords and ecstatic harmonies, they are unlike any other group you have ever heard. These are truly sounds to lift the soul. Celestial sounds for a new time. Ticket prices are $20 for seniors, $25 for general and $40 for special seating. For more info and to purchase tickets, please visit christcathedralmusic.org
