METRO SAN FRANCISCO STATS Over 928,000 children under 18 live in Metro San Francisco (2012). 30.8% of them are white, 31.6% are Hispanic, 22% are Asian/Pacific Islander, and 8% are black. RANKINGS: (Of the 100 largest US metro areas) #7 Highest percentage of black children living in very low-opportunity neighborhoods: (57.5%) #6th lowest percentage of black children and 7th lowest percentage of Asian/Pacific Islander children living in very high-opportunity neighborhoods (4.1% and 20.2%, respectively) within the metro area. RATIO: Black children are 8.1 times more likely to live in a very low-opportunity neighborhood of Metro San Francisco than are white children.
