DEPARTMENT: Student Development & Support Services

ROLE AND PURPOSE: SECONDARY(grades 7-12)- The role of the Student Development & Support Services Facilitator is to provide information, referral and social services for at risk youth and families on Title I campuses.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: • Master’s Degree from accredited institution • License in social work, counseling or related field OR School Counselor certificate issued by TEA Experience: • Successful experience in social work, counseling or related field • Experience working with at-risk children, youth and/or families in a secondary school setting • Bilingual preferred

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: I.

ADMINISTRATION AND FISCAL/FACILITIES MANAGEMENT A. Cooperate with campus staff (assistant principals, counselors and attendance clerks) for the purpose of school attendance improvement for at risk youth. B. Assist with evaluation research to assess program issues and impact and assist in program evaluation C. Input data for reporting purposes D. Assist in the timely enrollment of homeless children and youth

STUDENT MANAGEMENT A. Provide social service assistance to students and parents B. Provide case management services to students C. Maintain case records D. Experience in problem solving or mediation E. Experience in needs assessment processes

III.

SCHOOL/COMMUNITY RELATIONS A. Maintain relationships with local social services organizations B. Serve as a liaison for school referrals to community agency partners C. Prepare reports and/or professional learning to community agencies and/or school personnel concerning advocating for at risk youth D. Attend community fairs to share information about the program

IV.

PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT A. Attend professional development related to at risk youth

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES A. Oversee Social Work Interns (optional)

VI.

MISCELLANEOUS A. Perform other duties as may be assigned by Department Coordinator B. Basic computer skills to include Microsoft Word and Excel. C. Good oral and written communications skills. D. Ability to organize, manage time and prioritize duties E. Ability to work well with peers, the public, parents and students. F. Provide monthly documentation of intake, assessment and referral activity.
