Early Recovery & Livelihoods Sector Working Group Date: 11th May, 2017

Highlights of activities ending, March - 2017

The Working Group is focusing on early recovery of conflictaffected people, the stabilization of their livelihoods and the support to planning for and implementation of durable solutions to displacement in the most affected states of North East Nigeria. The working group is in close collaboration with the other sectors, ensuring a coordinated, complementary approach. Persons of concern to the ER&LSWG Sector (Source HRP 2017)

HRP Sector Funding

Activities completed under each pillar Under reconstruction, the sector completed the drilling of a borehole in Tarmuwa LGA, construction of a LGA office in Mafa; Health facilities in Gambodu, Damboa, Wajiriko and Kwajaffa; Primary schools in Makinta Karuri, Sabon Gari and Kwajaffa; meant to serve the returning, displaced and host community in these localities. In addition, 300 permanent shelter for returnees in displaced persons are currently being constructed in Ngwom. CBM is constructing 13 latrine stances in Maiduguri and Damaturu to benefit an estimated 650 displaced and host community. UNDP, a co-lead of the sector conducted an agricultural surveys and distributed farm inputs to 1,426 (20% female) farmers in 22 LGAs. In addition, UNDP trained 200 clerics on counter terrorism and de-radicalisation. Judicial and security organs were trained on de-radicalisation. Disaster Waste Recovery, joined the sector and is currently implementing recovery activities reaching 250 people in Maiduguri.
