Position Overview The Senior Accountant is responsible for running the day-to-day accounting function and analyzing revenues and expenses to ensure they are recorded and reported on appropriately. Duties include: processing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, recording Fixed Assets, reconciling sub-ledger to general ledger account balances as a part of month-end close, preparing financial statements, assisting with budget preparation, preparing the monthly budget variance analyses, preparing financial forecasts, assisting with the annual audit and board meetings, and assessing internal controls, including risk assessments. This position requires someone who has a passion for Tipping Point’s mission and has the ability to work with others to ensure the effective functioning of the organization as a whole. The Senior Accountant will report to Director of Finance and Operations and will be responsible for achieving the following key results:

1. General Ledger Maintenance Ensure that general ledger is maintained to enable accurate reports and actionable information to be generated and provided to internal parties. 2. Monthly close and financial reporting Oversee closing of books within five business days of month-end. Prepare and distribute financial statements within one business day of closing of books. 3. Year-end close and audit preparation Close and finalize fiscal year books within two weeks of fiscal year end. Prepare all fiscal year documentation, schedules and files within two weeks of fiscal year end to ensure audit preparedness. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Accounting • Provide day-to-day management for all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management. • Daily cash flow and credit card management. • Verify expending and encumber of grant/restricted funds and ensure compliance with grant/restricted contribution guidelines and fiscal policies and procedures. • Perform all monthly balance sheet and main income and expense account reconciliations including bank and credit card reconciliations, recording depreciation, deferred rent, prepaid expenses and other items as part of comprehensive month-end close. • Appraise the organization’s financial position and generate and present monthly fiscal reports and accompanying schedules and narratives; reports will include revenue and expense reports, cash position and variances against budget. • Act as primary liaison between the Finance and Operations team and the Development and Program teams to ensure that contributions and grants are recorded accurately and timely and that financial records tie to contribution and grant databases. • Work with Development and Program Teams to ensure that fiscal requirements for grants, pledges and contracts are identified, realized and monitored. • Provide guidance to the Development team in the preparation of periodic reports to funding sources. • Formulate, recommend and implement sound fiscal policies, procedures and controls and update Fiscal Policies and Procedures document. • Manage vendor, bank, credit card files and documentation. • Prepare 1099s for vendors and consultants. • Additional hands-on bookkeeping duties, as necessary. Budgeting, Forecasting and Reporting: • Assist in the management and preparation of budgets, forecasts, and customized reports for each team and for quarterly board meetings. • Build relevant tools and reports for internal use to support for better decision-making and improved efficiency.

Payroll • Manage accrued PTO schedule. • Ensure that employee expense reimbursements are recorded timely and accurately. • Pay benefit bills and ensure that employee withholdings are accurate. • Submit all required payroll materials to payroll processor and reconcile payroll reports post payroll run to ensure accuracy. Audit & Examinations: • Ensure smooth execution of audit by preparing audit timeline and facilitating audit planning with internal teams. • Along with Director of Finance and Operations, work closely with auditors on completion of annual external audit by preparing assigned schedules and collecting pertinent documentation. • Along with Director of Finance and Operations, perform annual fiscal review (internal audit) of all claims and records. • Prepare schedules for annual 990 tax return. • Prepare and file State Charitable Registrations, Business Property Statement, Census Reporting, CA Statement of Information and other items. Position Requirements: • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting. • Minimum of five years of experience in non-profit accounting. • Knowledge of GAAP and FASB with a clear understanding of accounting principles, management accounting methods, government accounting policies, cost allocation procedures, and nonprofit fund accounting. • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) • Proficient in QuickBooks • Preferred proficiency in SalesForce and Box.com • Ability to think strategically, proactively, with the ability to implement projects on a tactical level • Ability to meet assigned deadlines • Strong organizational and communication skills • High level of personal accountability for the quality and impact of work • Working knowledge of database applications • Commitment to Tipping Point’s mission • Local knowledge of the Bay Area philanthropic community considered a plus How to apply Please submit a thoughtful cover letter explaining your interest in Tipping Point Community, where/how you found out about this career opportunity, and your salary requirement.
