SENIOR ENERGY AND CLIMATE PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY OF POSITION EcoShift Consulting, LLC seeks a qualified professional with 7 or more years experience in climate and energy consulting or research to join our leadership team. Specifically, candidates will have experience with a range of energy and climate change topics including life cycle assessment, greenhouse gas inventories and carbon accounting, renewable energy development and financing, California climate and energy policy, economic modeling, and familiarity with sustainability and climate change practices and strategies. Candidates will have a proven track record of successful project management and business development to reference. Candidates must possess a master’s degree or higher in Engineering, Energy and Resource Studies, Climate Science, Renewable Energy, Natural Resource Management and Economics, Environmental Studies and/or Sciences, or related fields.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES The work performed in this position requires strong analytical and writing skills as well as the ability to professionally interact with existing and potential clients and subcontractors. Experience in using standard programs and tools of the trade is desired. It is preferred that candidates have experience working in teams and independently in a consulting environment to generate proposals for new work, manage projects, conduct analyses, and prepare written products, as needed. This full-‐ or part-‐time position will be filled by an independent contractor working from our Santa Cruz office, although working remotely is negotiable.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Technical Assistance: • Interact regularly with clients, counterparts, and partners on relevant technical issues and opportunities • Identify and develop projects and innovations to impact sustainability goals • Provide long-‐ and/or short-‐term technical assistance to project activities • Provide subject-‐matter expertise to support work plan development, prepare and review deliverables, support analyses, evaluation, and delivery of project scope • Assist project-‐teams with identifying and fielding appropriate long and short-‐term technical consultants • Enhance EcoShift’s technical reputation through thought leadership in areas of sustainability, climate change strategy, life cycle assessment, energy efficiency, carbon accounting and green infrastructure
Project Management: • Coordinate project personnel, schedules, budgets, timelines and deliverables • Support project key personnel in completion of overall contract objectives and activities • Track and monitor project performance including schedule, revenue, and expenditures • Ensure quality control of project deliverables and communications with clients • Identify/anticipate long-‐range activities and problems/constraints of the project, key personnel, and the client
Business Development: • Support the definition and implementation of a strategy to expand EcoShift’s work in the areas of sustainability, climate change mitigation strategies, life cycle assessment, energy efficiency, carbon accounting and green infrastructure • Work with the Business Development and technical teams to prioritize and oversee new business opportunities and expenditures • Lead/support teams to pursue new business opportunities across all key components of business development. • Represent EcoShift at meetings, conferences and in communications with current and prospective new clients • Support the definition of targets and content for relevant communications and marketing • Develop strong working relationships with potential clients, counterparts, and partners.
