Senior Escalation Engineer The big picture: Open-Mesh makes networking smarter and simpler. We help create low-cost, cloudmanaged wireless mesh networks that automatically spread Internet connections throughout hotels, apartments, offices, schools, cafes, villages—and just about anywhere else. We have more than 80,000 cloud-managed mesh networks that serve millions of users every day, but we're just getting started. Our small team is based primarily in Portland, Oregon and Hong Kong. We’re always looking to team up with other talented, hard working, and detail-oriented people. We believe in implementing great ideas, working smart and being ourselves. We’re currently seeking an exceptional Senior Escalation Engineer to help keep our customer satisfaction bar set ridiculously high, and to help us identify and execute ways to raise it even higher. Your broad responsibilities: We’re still in startup mode, so you'll likely be getting your hands dirty with a bit of everything. But here's what you can expect: • • •

Take the lead role in characterizing and diagnosing customer issues remotely and onsite (when necessary) Serve as a second line customer interface, backing our Customer Success team Work with our Customer Success, Product, Engineering and QA teams to drive issues to closure, while communicating with customers directly

You love interacting with customers and thrive in a fast-paced environment You are able to start with vague or ambiguous customer reported issues and methodically drive them to root-cause and closure You thrive on taking initiative and communicating well with diverse, distributed teams and remote customers You are comfortable handling multiple projects and tasks at the same time

Required: • • • • • •

You have a BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field (or equivalent education/experience) 3+ years of experience in an engineering, QA or customer-facing technical role Experience working on embedded software products that involve hardwarefirmware-application software interaction. Familiarity with common Wi-Fi standards, network protocols and test/ debug tools Experience with Linux Willingness to learn the “Nice-to-haves” (below).

Nice-to-have:

Experience working on Wi-Fi infrastructure devices (routers, access points, etc.) Solid understanding of OSI layers, TCP/IP, UDP, DHCP and other common networking/ routing protocols; WPA/ WPA2/ 802.1x/ RADIUS standards Experience with OpenWRT and/ or embedded Linux (toolchain, file system, kernel) Experience with scripting languages (perl, shell scripting or similar) Experience using Wireshark, Omnipeek, Airmagnet or similar packet capture and spectrum analysis tools. Experience using IxChariot, Spirent, Veriwave or similar test tools Familiarity with RF and antenna systems
