Join us at our favorite place as we explore what it means to sabbath & spend time with God. What you’ll need: - warm, comfortable clothes - Bible & journal - toiletries - pillow, twin size sheets, towel - money for two meals - a snack to share - an open mind & heart! What you w on’t need: - You can bring your phone and/or ipod but we will put them away for the time we are at Montreat. - Homework. Durham schools do not have school the Friday before we leave – take this time to do your homework as we will practice sabbath which means no work! What will we do? Rest. Relax. Read Scripture. Talk. Sleep. Eat. Be silent. Listen. Walk. And on the seventh day God finish the work he had done and he rested… So God blessed the seventh day and hallowed it… (Genesis 2:2-3)

What’s GLEANING? Gleaning is a time when we help farmers in the area “glean” or pick the surplus of sweet potatoes on their farms. This food is then given to hungry people in need all over our country. We participate in Gleaning through St. Andrews Society and go with other groups from the Triangle. MISSION TRIP *CHICAGO* June 23rd – 29th, 2013 Cost: $325 (Deposit 12/2; Balance 3/10) As the prophet Micah teaches us, we are called to do justice, to love kindness and walk humbly with our God. Travel with us to Chicago where we‘ll work with an organization called DOOR (Discovering Opportunities for Outreach and Reflection) and learn about how to live out our faith in Jesus Christ.

Each participant is responsible for giving 10 service hours to the church either through fundraising events and efforts or helping church members with a task like raking leaves, babysitting, or working in the garden. Several fundraising opportunities will be available throughout the year. What’s the ‘netta?

Massanetta is a Presbyterian Camp and Conference Center. Every year, they host a conference just for Middle Schoolers. Churches from all over come to play, worship, and be in fellowship. It is SO fun and we hope you’ll join us! (P.S. There is an epic waterslide that is not to be missed!)

What’s Montreat? Montreat is a Presbyterian Conference Center in Western North Carolina. The youth conferences happen every summer when over 1000 youth each week gather to worship, be in small group, play, and meet youth from all over the country. It is a favorite place for the WPC youth and an incredibly formative time. We hope you join us!

Who can Go?

Completed 8th – 12th graders.

Where do we stay & eat? We will stay at the Assembly Inn, a hotel on Lake Susan. We will stay in hotel rooms of three each (all from our church) and eat all meals in the Inn. Other youth groups will stay there, too, so we are sure to make new friends!

washington d.c. mission trip August 6th – 10th, 2013 Cost: $250 ($125 deposit12/2; $125 balance 3/10)

Serve our nation’s capital in a week-long mission trip. We’ll work with The Pilgrimage, an organization that serves those in need around the city. The Pilgrimage is a Christian-based organization that hopes youth will connect their faith with social awareness and action (think Micah 6:8 lived out!).
