Sept. 16, 2016

Dear CW Families,

We have had a really great week at CW! On Wednesday during a staff meeting, I was sharing out with our teachers that I feel the start of this school year as been the best one in my 4 years at CW! We spent time sharing out some gratitudes for each other and I would like to continue that by saying how grateful I am of our CW parents! I appreciate your continued support and the amazing job you have done in preparing your children to be successful at CW and in life! Being a parent of two children, I know how being a parent can present many challenges! You are doing an amazing job and I get to see the results every day at CW! David

• CW Magazine Fundraiser: This coming week on Wednesday, CW will

launch our annual Magazine Fundraiser. This is completely separate from the PTO and is something we have done for years! This magazine is really important for our school! In the past, we have paid for field trips such as a Planetarium trip, Class Orchard Trip, and Science Explosion at Calvin! We use funds to purchase much needed supplies for classrooms, student scholarships, chrome books, iPads, and many other things. Information will be coming home on Wednesday with your child on how to participate. Our goal is to have every student turn in an address postmark booklet. This is an easy way for everyone to participate! Thanks for your support of this! • M-Step Parent Reports: Student reports from testing done last school year in April and May will be coming home today with your child. Please be on the lookout for this report. • PTO News: The PTO is currently in need of a Co-Treasurer for the 2016/17 school year. This is a 2 year commitment. If you are interested and want to learn more about the volunteer position, please contact Marlene Thompson at [email protected] or 616-460-7911. Thank you for your consideration! • Instagram and Twitter: If you are in interested in seeing real time updates about the cool things happening at CW during the day, please follow us! Camp Henry We are so excited to have our 6th grade students become the first ever class from CW to attend overnight 6th grade camp! We chose Camp Henry because of the positive experiences both Knapp Forest and Orchard View have had with their 6th grade camp! Both schools have come back raving about the benefits of camp for their 6th grade. Forms and information will be coming home on Friday, Sept. 15th. Please take a moment to look over everything! We will have a Parent meeting in October with staff from Camp Henry to answer questions! We are asking to return permission forms as soon as possible! We also need parents willing to chaperone and stay the night!
