SETTING UP A RETARGETING CAMPAIGN USING FACEBOOK ADS / PIXEL

Setting Up The Campaign: 1. Log on to your personal Facebook Account. 2. Click on this link https://www.facebook.com/business/products/ads

3. Click Create Ad (see arrow pointing to button above) 4. It will bring you to the page below where you will click on Traffic

5. You will then be brought to the page below where it will ask you to name your campaign. I like to be descriptive in this section. For this example I want to retarget people that land on my sales page – i.e. showing interest in my Retargeting Lead Generation Funnel. If you note, I also put the client name here for tracking purposes. That way, if you run multiple campaigns for clients you can see which client each campaign is for. Next click, Set Up Ad Account

6. You will then be prompted to pick your account country, currency, and time zone. Input the appropriate information and then click Continue.

7. On the next page, you will start filling in the Ad information that you will use to bring people back to your client’s offer. #1 – Ad Set Name – For this ad you are only going to be showing it to people that visit the page you are using retargeting with (Example Accepting New Patients Page, or in my case, visited my funnel Sales Page). #2 – Traffic - We want to send people to a website where they will hopefully take action, and engage you or your client’s offer. #3 – We want to Create New Custom Audience (In this case the custom audience are the people that visited the page we are using retargeting on). You will be given 2 options, custom audience or look-a-like. For retargeting we want to use Custom Audience.

8. Facebook will then pop open this screen where you will click Website Traffic as we want to target people that have visited a specific page.

9. This will pop up a window. Click the gearbox at bottom left and it will open drop down menu. Click on View Pixel Code

10.It will open the pop up window where you can copy the pixel code, just hover over the pixel code and it will turn blue and allow you to copy it!

Depending on level of comfort you can copy and paste this into the header of your client’s site, and or specific page. If this is beyond your comfort level your web developer can do this in 2 minutes *** Note: (I will also demonstrate this for mastermind students for those of you that bought the funnel).

11.Once you are back to this pop up window please follow steps in the image below.

#1 – There is a pull down menu select “people who visit specific web pages”, or #2 - Use the URL of the page you want to retarget ads from (so for me it is my sales page). #3 – Enter the number of days you wish to retarget them for. Note that 1 to 180 days are available for selection. #4 - Audience Name – Name the audience something that makes it easy to know which audience this is so you can easily use it for future ads. #5 - By clicking the gear box at the bottom left you are given the option to view your pixel code. I will show this screen in next step. Click Create Audience 12.It will then create your audience for you.

13.Once you set up audience you will see it in Custom Audience. You then can select Location – This will allow you to target people in a specific city, country, or simply anyone that hits the page. You then can select age 18 to 65 plus (again this is just amongst the people that have visited your custom audience). The same goes for gender where you will select men, women or all. Language – You can select any based on the demographic of the person visiting the site where you are using the retargeting Note: For most retargeting campaigns you will want to retarget all people that hit your webpage as they clearly share a common interest. You’d have to have a pretty compelling reason to eliminate people from your potential client pool.

14.Next, your going to be prompted to fill in Placements (where and to whom your ads will be shown). #1 – Edit Placements - I like to select edit placements as opposed to automatic placements. #2 – Platforms - I generally select Facebook as the primary starting point and leave the others unchecked. I go over this in more detail in my group mastermind for retargeting funnel buyers. #3 – Set your daily budget – This is how much money you or your client is willing to spend each day for showing the ad you’re going to create Next, click the blue button Continue at bottom of page.

15.Okay, now it’s time to create your AD… Some important things to note – You are only showing this ad to people that landed on your offer. We call this a hungry crowd. They are already interested in your offer by virtue of the fact they navigated to the page but they left for whatever reason. Your job as a marketer is to bring them back!

This does not require a high level of advertisement copy or picture for most local businesses #1 - Select if you want to use an image, video, slideshow etc. #2 - Upload the image/video. #3 - Select the page you are marketing from. Remember: You must be an admin on page to run the ad. If client does not have Facebook page you have to set one up (another paid service…or a freebie that you bring their attention to so that they owe you one…CHA CHING!). #4 - URL you want to send them to – back to landing page to get them to take action. #5 - Head Line Text. #6 – Body Text. #7 - Call to action Button.

That’s it!

This is the step-by-step way to set up Facebook Retargeting Campaign. It allows you to add value to your local client with little additional work on your end and it is a GREAT door opener. Remember: The KEY to effectiveness is the understanding that you are retargeting traffic that landed on a specific page, generally an offer page. If you aim your advertisement to this specific group (that clearly has a specific interest) you will be more effective. (i.e. Since the only people that would have clicked through to see the page with the retargeting pixel are people interested in buying the (product/service) your client is offering on that page, you already know what they are looking for. Now just prepare something that reminds them of this page and why they were there). By setting up this retargeting campaign your client is in a far better position to land the client and increase conversions.
