3. Box the bottom of the pockets by sewing together adjacent sides (connected by arrows) of each cut out square. Repeat for all four pocket pieces, for a total of two from each fabric. Place one pocket from each fabric, right sides together and sew around all sides, leaving a 3” opening at the bottom for turning. Turn right side out and press edges flat. Topstitch top edge if desired. Repeat to make a second pocket (Dia. C).

7. Center the ends of the handles at the top of the bag, leaving 1/4” on each side for the seam, baste. If you want the handles to match the outside of the bag, make sure the same fabrics are right sides together. Center matching tabs on the bag piece without the pocket as shown and baste. (Dia. G).

4. Position one pocket with the Turquoise/Red Dot fabric on the outside, on one White Mod Floral bag piece. Pin the sides of the pocket 5” from the sides of the bag, ½” from the top, and 11 ¼”from the bottom as shown. Topstitch close to the edge, closing the opening in the stitching. Repeat with the second pocket, so the White Mod Floral is on the outside, positioned on one Turquoise/Red Dot bag piece (Dia. D).

5. Make the handles by sewing one 3-1/2” x 22” strip of each fabric (Floral & Dot) right sides together on the long sides. Turn right side out. Press flat and topstitch along the long edges. Repeat to make two (Dia. E).

9. Put the bags right sides together, matching the top edges. Make sure the different pocket fabrics will be on opposite sides when the bag is turned right side out (so it is reversible). Pin well, sew around the top, pivoting around the handles, making sure to only catch the ends of the handles in the seam. Clip corners and curves. Turn right side out through the opening, and sew closed by hand. Press the top edge flat. 10. To finish, sew a button on the inside and outside of each pocket, centered and ½” from the top. To keep your bag in the pouch until needed, fold the sides of the bag to the center and the bottom to the top, and turn the pocket inside out, securing the tab over the button.

6. Make the tab closures by folding the 1-1/2” x 3-1/2” strips in half lengthwise wrong sides together. Open and press the sides to the center. Fold closed and stitch close to the edge to secure. Fold as shown to make a Diagram F loop and press (Dia. F).
