SHAKEN AND STIRRED WINTER MEMBERS SHOW 2017 February 23 – April 6, 2017 The Copley Society of Art is proud to present the annual juried Winter Members Show, an exquisite showcase of unique works by artist members in a variety of mediums and styles. This exhibition opens with a reception on Thursday, February 23rd from 5:30 to 7:30pm at the Co|So Gallery, located at 158 Newbury Street, Boston, MA 02116, and continues through April 6, 2017. This year’s show, Shaken and Stirred, features a range of styles and mediums including painting, photography, graphite, and scratchboard. Co|So is honored to have Mike Carroll of the Schoolhouse Gallery (Provincetown, MA) jury this year’s Winter Members Show. First prize was awarded to Don Dalton for North Shore, a watercolor depicting the serene yet jagged edges of the familiar shoreline north of Boston. Second prize was given to Bobby Baker for Yesterday, a nostalgic photograph of old cameras, while third prize was granted to Barney Levitt and his playful oil painting 17 Cups. Laura Tryon Jennings’ Between the Sheets, an intricate interior done in oil on linen, was chosen as the juror’s choice. The Copley Society of Art (Co|So), America’s oldest non-profit arts organization, is committed to the advancement, enjoyment, and promotion of its member artists and the visual arts. The organization, founded in 1879, comprises juried artists who are selected by a credentialed art committee. Co|So provides artists with a gallery for exhibiting and selling their work and a platform for engaging and educating the community. ####
