SHARED PARENTAL LEAVE: PUBLIC ATTITUDES

Commissioned research carried out by Opinion Matters JANUARY 2015

Shared Parental Leave: Public Attitudes

Introduction Opinion Matters were commissioned by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills to carry out research into attitudes to shared parenting. 2,138 adults from across the UK were surveyed between 04 and 11 December 2014 to examine attitudes towards Shared Parenting and assess potential uptake of Shared Parental Leave entitlement. The new regulations on Shared Parental Leave apply to couples with babies due or children matched or placed for adoption on or after 5 April 2015 and will allow parents to choose whether they want to share the mother’s maternity leave.
