Shield Against Malaria What is malaria? Malaria is a parasite that is given to people by a certain type of mosquito. There are lots of mosquito bites that aren’t dangerous (although the spot where you are bitten can get awfully itchy!). But, in some parts of the world, a mosquito bite from a certain type of mosquito can be very dangerous. If the mosquito is carrying malaria when it bites a person, it can make them very sick. It can even kill them. BUT, there is something that can protect people from the dangerous kind of mosquitoes. It works like a special shield that will keep the mosquitoes away. Plus, it doesn’t cost very much. The problem is that a lot of the people who are in the most danger from malaria don’t even have enough money to buy the shield. Using the words in the word bank below, answer the questions about malaria. Write down the letters on the red lines, without changing their order, to find out what that special shield is.
