SHOW RULES

1

All shows open to members and non-members alike.

2

All exhibits to be own work, or grown by the exhibitor in fruit, vegetable, and flower classes (excluding class N39 in the November Show). Varieties should be named.

An exhibitor may stage no more than three exhibits in each class, except where otherwise stated.

Entry forms should be presented on day of show BEFORE staging.

Exhibitors may use their own vases.

Plates are provided and must be used where specified.

Exhibitors must accept the space allotted to them by the show Managers.

The decision of the judges will be final.

Exhibits must not be removed before presentation of trophies.

All prizes will be paid out not later than 4.00pm on the day of the show.

Exhibits can be staged from 7.30pm - 9.00pm Friday and 8.30am - 11.30am on Saturday.

Judging to NCS, NVS, and NDS Rules where applicable.

In the interests of the Society the Committee reserves the right to add classes on the day of the show. Judges will be advised prior to judging.

Points awarded - 1st = 3 points, 2nd = 2 points, 3rd = 1 point.

Cream butter & sugar together until light & fluffy; gradually add the beaten egg. Stir in sifted flour and nuts, then fold in dates. Put in greased 2lb loaf tin and bake for 1 hour at 180°C / 160°C fan / Gas 4. Allow to cool. 5

The Garden News Top Tray class is for a collection of three types of vegetables taken from the following list of fifteen. Each type must consist of the same variety and the quantities required are shown in brackets: carrots(3) parsnips(3) runner beans(6 pods) sweetcorn(2) courgette(3)

cauliflowers(2) peas(6 pods) tomatoes(6) pepper(3) red beet(3)

onions(3) potatoes(3) French bean(6 pods) cucumber(2) aubergines(2)

The Top Vase class is for a vase of mixed flowering stems containing a total of between 5 and 10, taken from a minimum of two different kinds of plants. Please note that it is two different KINDS of plants, two varieties of the same plants are NOT two kinds. The display is judged out of a total of 35 points, split into 25 points for the colour, form, condition, quality and freshness of the flowers on display, and 10 points for the overall presentation and effects of the flowers in the vase. The vase will be viewed from all directions. Judging of flowers should be to the normal rules used for other classes. The runner up will receive a £5 Mr Fothergill’s voucher. Third place will receive a £3 Mr Fothergill’s voucher. These vouchers are to be used by 31 December 2017 for seeds via mail order only.
