History of SWS Offices SWS Core Values

SWS Vision To set standards of excellence in the practice of Statistics for Advocacy within a democratic context: • Using a socially-oriented agenda, • Making practical technical innovations, • Communicating findings to the general public, • Teaching the technology to other institutions.

SWS Mission To regularly do scientific social surveys for the sake of • Education: So eyes may see social conditions • Conscientization: So hearts may feel social problems • Analysis: So minds may understand their solutions

The first 14 years of Social Weather Stations (SWS) were spent in the Philippine Social Science Center (PSSC) along Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City.

CONSCIOUSNESS OF THE SOCIAL CONTEXT:

In ten years, the SWS office grew from 30 to 190 square meters at PSSC, for 19 regular staff members.

In 1998, SWS decided to search for a new office. An SWS Building Committee, headed by Ana Bince, was formed to identify and recommend potential sites for the office.

After several months, a residential property in Sikatuna Village, Quezon City was found with an area of 900 square meters. On August 24, 1999, SWS moved to its new address:

In November 1999, the SWS Survey Data Library was inaugurated with Quezon City Mayor Mel Mathay as guest of honor.

In August 8, 2013, groundbreaking for the SWS Knowledge Center was held, with Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista as guest of honor.

Facilities Meeting Rooms

Every floor of the SWS Knowledge Center has a meeting room that can accommodate 12 people. These rooms are equipped with digital displays, audio-visual panels, and WiFi Connectivity.

Social Weather Stations unveiled its vision to build the SWS Knowledge Center in its Silver Anniversary gala on August 18, 2010 at The Blue Leaf, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

Access

Various access points at the Upper Ground level. A seven-level elevator goes from the Lower Ground level to the Roof Deck.

The SWS Knowledge Center is the Philippines’ most comprehensive collection of survey data on well-being, governance, and democracy.

A PWD ramp is also available at the building’s main entrance.

With seven levels, the SWS Knowledge Center is envisioned to be organic, connected, and growing.

Safety Each floor of the SWS Knowledge Center is equipped with fire exits and sprinklers.

Connectivity WiFi Connectivity is available in every floor upon request.
