Somalia: Humanitarian Snapshot (as of 09 October 2017) The threat of famine in Somalia persists and humanitarian needs are expanding and deepening. Acute malnutrition levels are on the rise, including among Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). Over 975,000 people have been displaced since the beginning of the year. Donors have provided swift assistance of over US$1.1 billion for famine prevention in 2017, enabling humanitarians to boost response. Additional resources are required to prevent famine in the last quarter of the year.
