At Destination Southampton we realise the value of offering total certainty regardless of the challenges and timescales involved, or how complex the objectives. Our dedicated and experienced events team provide highly effective project management, from the initial venue research brief through to the on-site delivery and final reconciliation. We deliver a consistently high level of service by working in partnership with all the stakeholders involved in the event. We are dedicated and skilled in pulling every aspect of an event together to make sure it meets our clients’ objectives. Our attention to detail ensures the overall success of the event, and allows our clients to focus on the scientific content of the meeting. We do this by:

• PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Providing clients with a consistent and dedicated project manager to manage every aspect of your event.

• VENUE: Conducting a full venue inspection during the planning phase to ensure that all Health & Safety considerations and risk assessments are fulfilled.

• PRODUCTION: Conducting a full review of all logistical and production elements and reporting all findings to project stakeholders. • REGISTRATION: Using our bespoke system to enhance the registration and meeting management process from the perspective of all stakeholders.

• TRAVEL: Utilising our partner travel team who are instrumental in recommending the most appropriate travel options & travel

costs. Our dedicated travel consultants then work as part of the project team to manage all travel-related aspects of the event.

• ON-SITE: Providing on-site management through working closely with all stakeholders to guarantee the seamless delivery

of the event, from the arrival at the airport through to the delegate flow around a complex program of breakout groups and all other meeting related activities, private dinners and partner programs.

The Grand Café is located within South Western House, a Grade II* listed building that is steeped in history. Once Southampton’s grandest hotel, South Western House was used by first class passengers of the ill fated Titanic and its history dates back to 1865. The former Wedgewood Ballroom of the old hotel is now home to a quirky and wonderfully unique bar, bistro, restaurant & function venue. The Grand Café Restaurant is designed to be bursting with an eclectic mix of classic British styles and elaborate flamboyance, offering an exciting dining area for any event or function. The varied function menus are principally European and Mediterranean with every meal being cooked to order with great attention to detail using locally sourced fish, meats and other seasonal produce wherever possible. Grand Café has hosted many successful large and not so large events including two historic and truly memorable Titanic Commemoration evenings on the 10th and 15th April 2012, when over 230 guests attended on both nights. Other major functions include a cricket benefit dinner for 220 guests, a special cricket lunch for 200 with Phil Tufnell and Matt Dawson and two fashion shows for over 200 guests including a catwalk. Sporting Lunches with Kevin Keegan, Lawrie McMenemy, Matt Le Tissier, Ron Atkinson and Graeme Souness have again been very successfully staged. St George’s Day, Burns Supper and St Patrick’s Day lunches and dinners are also always very popular. On one occasion, the entire staff of John Lewis enjoyed one of Grand Café’s famous ‘Hot Bowl’ buffet evenings with around 300 guests.
