An enquiry was held to consider interference leaving the home bend on the first circuit when MILITARIAN, placed second, ridden by Mr James Martin, interfered with DARTFORD WARBLER (IRE), placed seventh, ridden by Sam Coltherd, which in turn caused interference to THE DAWN MAN (IRE), which was pulled up, ridden by Dave Crosse. Martin was cautioned for careless riding as he had allowed his horse to drift left when insufficiently clear of DARTFORD WARBLER (IRE), shifting that runner onto THE DAWN MAN (IRE), causing the rider to take a precautionary check. The performance of DARTFORD WARBLER (IRE), which finished unplaced, was considered. The explanation from the representative of Sue Smith that the gelding was never travelling was noted. The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination, during routine testing of DARTFORD WARBLER (IRE) revealed the gelding to be lame on its left hind. Following the race, Dave Crosse reported that THE DAWN MAN (IRE), which was pulled up, was never
