SHORE EXCURSION – 5 Ports of call PALMA DE MALLORCA – 12/12/2017 TOUR OF THE CITY OF PALMA DE MALLORCA DURATION : 4 HRS Approx. Description Palma is more than just sea and nightlife. This tour will allow us to see the artistic heritage of a wonderful city that never ceases to amaze. What we will see  Santa Maria Cathedral (inside visit), medieval quarter  Bellver Castle, city views  Pearl store What we will do  The capital of the Balearic archipelago, Palma opens out in the shape of a fan over a wide inlet on the south coast of Mallorca. Its natural beauty, rich artistic heritage, mild climate and modern facilities make it one of the most popular international tourist destinations, frequented in both summer and winter.  The tour will take us to the beautiful Gothic cathedral of Santa Maria (La Seu), the most famous building in the city, rebuilt between 1904 and 1914 under Antonio Gaudí's orders. On the main façade, don't miss the Gothic Eye (Ojo del Gótico), one of the largest Gothic rose windows in Europe. PALERMO – 14/12/2017 A PANORAMA OF PALERMO AND THE WONDERS OF CEFALÙ DURATION : 5 HRS Approx. Description A two-fold excursion that will take us through the historic centre of Palermo, where we will admire the most symbolic sights and buildings from the comfort of a coach. The same coach will then accompany us to the beautiful beach resort of Cefalù, where we will stroll through the lanes of this medieval village, taking in the main monuments. CIVITAVEECHIA – 15/12/2017 TOUR OF ANCIENT AND MODERN ROME DURATION : 9 HRS Approx. Description Moving around by coach and on foot, accompanied by our guide but also free to explore various areas of the capital, this tour is a journey of discovery of one of the most beautiful cities in the world where history and culture merge together as if by magic. What we will see  Castel Sant'Angelo and Via della Conciliazione  St. Peter's Square, Bernini's Colonnade and St. Peter's Basilica  Trevi Fountain  Colosseum, Circus Maximus and the Pyramid of Cestius What we will do  Costa Diadema - Spain, Balearic Islands, Italy, France  We leave Civitavecchia by coach for Rome where we start our day in the Eternal City admiring some of its most famous monuments and squares: accompanied by an expert guide, we drive past Castel Sant'Angelo, originally built as a mausoleum, and used over the centuries as a Papal residence, law courts, a fortress and also a prison, and along the*Via della Conciliazione* that links Italy with the Vatican State.  We go over the thin strip of travertine marble that is the line of demarcation between the two states and we find ourselves in St. Peter's Square, the universal centre of Christianity, where we have some free time to take pictures and admire architectural masterpieces such as Bernini's Colonnade and St. Peter's Basilica.  The tour proceeds to the Trevi Fountain, one of the most famous fountains in the world. Here we are free to explore the area, do some shopping and take advantage of the break to enjoy some wonderful Italian cuisine for lunch in one of the many local restaurants and trattorie.  In the afternoon our guide takes us on a panoramic tour by coach dedicated to the treasures of ancient Rome.  We drive past the Colosseum, one of the seven wonders of the modern world, the amphitheatre that is a symbol of the greatness of Rome caput mundi, the Circus Maximus where horse-drawn chariot races were held, and the Pyramid of Cestius , an Egyptian style funerary monument built in the 1st century BC.  The excursion ends with our return to Civitavecchia with the memory of an unforgettable day.  This tour includes a basket lunch selected by our ship staff. The transfer to Rome takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Dress code that is appropriate for the places of worship to be visited is recommended. The excursion is reserved for guests who do not disembark at Civitavecchia.

SAVONA – 16/12/2017 ANCIENT GENOA, PORT, HISTORIC CENTRE AND A NEW ROADWAY AMONGST WONDERS AND FLAVOURS DURATION : 5 HRS Approx. Description Upon the discovery of the heart of the historic centre of Genoa, amongst its sumptuous buildings and flavours. What we will see  Lanterna, Castelletto  Via Garibaldi, Palazzo Rosso, House of Columbus, Porta Soprana  Ducal Palace, Imperial Palace, Ancient Port, Via San Lorenzo, Porticoes of Sotto Ripa What we will do  Taking a scenic route on the motorway along the coast of Riviera di Ponente, we will arrive in Genoa, glimpses of the sea and the Mediterranean scrubland included.  Skimming the port, we will admire Lanterna, which has always been a point of reference for seafarers, and we will continue, by coach, upon the discovery of the most interesting places within the city until we get to Castelletto, one of the oldest and aristocratic in Genoa which stands on the headland overlooking the historic centre.  From here one of the city's historic lifts will take us to the very centre, to the alleyways which Rubens described as "Europe's most beautiful roads": Via Garibaldi, better known as Strada Nuova. This pedestrian area includes some of Genoa's most sumptuous squares, built in the 1500s as residences for the most important noble families and which were restored to their original splendour for the occasion of "Genoa 2004".

At this stage, we will visit the Palazzo Rosso and Palazzo Imperiale (exclusive entry for Costa Cruises) followed by a delicious tasting session. From this elegant alleyway, we will go onto a part of the city which historically connected it to the sea, passing by Porta Soprana, the House of Columbus, Via San Lorenzo, the Ducal Palace and the Ancient Port. During the free time available until the end of the tour, we can trace the ancient and characteristic Porticoes of Sotto Ripa. The transfer to Genoa takes approximately 1 hour. Comfortable shoes are recommended.

EASY TOUR MARSEILLES

MARSEILLES – 17/12/2017 DURATION : 3-1/2 HRS Approx.

Description A tour for those who want to explore Marseille free from a fixed itinerary, with plenty of time to ourselves and a special guide who will give us the historical, cultural and practical information we need to explore the city on our own. What we will see  The Old Port, Fort Saint-Jean and the Cathedral of Saint-Marie-Majeure  La Tourette Esplanade, Panier Quarter, La Vieille Charité, Daviel Pavilion and the Town Hall Square  Dockside Area What we will do  Our guide will be waiting to welcome us as we disembark from the ship. Together, we make our way to the city centre, specifically, a point near the Old Harbour where we begin our walking tour with a visit to Fort Saint-Jean, built in 1660 at the behest of Louis XIV, and the chance to admire the exterior of the NeoByzantine Cathedral of Saint-Marie-Majeure.  Next, we head across La Tourette Esplanade, which offers views over both the old and new harbours.  Together with our guide, we visit the old heart of the city, the Panier quarter, with its artisan workshops and colourful, lively  cafés, then pay a visit to La Vieille Charité, built in 1664 as an almshouse for the city's poor and now home to a cultural centre and a venue for temporary exhibitions  We then proceed on foot through typical, narrow Provençal streets to the Daviel Pavillion, which in turn leads to the square in front of the Town Hall.  The last stop on our tour takes us to the Dockside area, a lively part of the city with many galleries, restaurants and shops. Our guide will give us some useful pointers as to where to make our purchases.  At this point, we are left with plenty of free time and we are given a map of the city to explore Marseille at leisure.  At the end of the excursion, we can avail ourselves of the dedicated shuttle bus service to make our way back to the port.  Places on this excursion are limited. We recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.  This excursion is not recommended for guests with mobility problems.  This excursion involves some walking. We recommend wearing appropriate footwear and comfortable clothing.?
