COURSE OVERVIEW

Krista Hardwick is an experienced employment defense attorney, skilled in all aspects of employment law and traditional labor law, including responding to union organizing campaigns, collective bargaining negotiations, grievance arbitrations, and defending unfair labor practice charges before the NLRB.

The Washington Department of Labor and Industries has published the final regulations implementing Initiative 1433 — the new statewide paid sick leave law passed by the voters in November 2016. These regulations have been much-anticipated by Washington’s long-term care providers, and they provide new details about how employers will be expected to comply with the statewide paid sick leave law that goes into effect on January 1, 2018.

She has represented and advised employers and executives on a wide range of traditional labor and employment matters including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful discharge, and wage and hour claims. Krista also counsels clients on employmentrelated documents such as contracts, non-competition, non-solicitation and confidentiality agreements, and handbooks. Human resources professionals, managers, and business owners turn to Krista for strategic counsel on policy implementation and interpretation, operational strategy, pay practices, layoffs, terminations, and discipline as well as compliance with emerging federal, state and local laws and ordinances such as paid sick leave requirements. She also advises clients on affirmative action and federal contractor requirements and has successfully defended OFCCP audits.

Join Krista Hardwick from Lane Powell as she takes a deep dive into the new statewide paid sick leave law. She will address topics including whether exempt employees are covered, frontloading paid sick leave, the rate of pay during paid sick leave, and more. As an employer in Washington state, this is a webinar you won’t want to miss!
