STAGE CLOSURE AND OPENING

EMERGENCY CONTACT In the case of a life threatening

Targa West has permission from the local government authority and the Commissioner of Police to close the roads for the competition. All roads, gates and driveways leading onto the rally stage need to be closed off by manning, taping and tagging. To ensure the safety of the public, officials and the crews the following procedure will take place. • Before the road closure time unused gates will be tagged. • At the road closure time the roads will be closed and officials will begin to tape and tag all driveways and gates. • 30-minutes before the stage start, Official Car 000, will inspect that all roads, gates and driveways have been closed. • 15-minutes before the stage starts, Official Car 00 will check that all officials and the public are in a safe location • 5-minutes before the stage starts, Official Car 0A, with flashing lights and sirens will be a warning that the stage is about to begin • The Challenge Category (cars without roll cages) will start competing • They will be followed by Official Car 0B to ensure they have all cleared the stage • Approximately 8 minutes later the Competition Rally Cars will compete • They will be followed by the medical team, Official Car FIV, to check on the safety of the stage. • Official Car SWEEPER with a GREEN flashing light will then traverse the stage notifying Officials to open up roads, driveways, gates and remove Chicanes from the road. • The road will then open to the public.

ADVANCE 1 & 2 CARS These vehicles assist the Officials in the setup of the stage. They are also available to assist residents to enter or leave their properties after the roads are closed and before the competition starts. They traverse the course between 60 and 30 minutes before the first competitor.

CAR 000 & CAR 00 Car 000 checks the stage is set up correctly and spectators are in safe areas. It passes approximately 30 minutes before the first competitor. Car 00 re-checks the stage is secure and reports to Rally Command that the competition can begin. It passes approximately 15 minutes before the first competitor. CAR 0A & 0B These vehicles warn the spectators and residents that the competition is about to start. Car 0A passes approximately 5 minutes before the first Challenge Car and conducts another safety check to ensure residents and spectators are in a safe location. Car 0B conducts another check before the Competition Category Cars commence their runs. ICV & MIV 1 to 3 CARS The Incident Control Vehicle and MIV’s carry medical personnel. They may travel at various times along the competition route to attend an incident. They always follow the last rally car through to ensure all crews finish safely. They are also available to attend any resident’s emergency. Simply call the emergency number.

SWEEP CAR (Green Flashing Light) This vehicle travels approximately 15 minutes behind the MIV, after the last running of the stage; Many stages run two to four times and the Sweep Car provides safety for the officials opening the driveways and roads. No spectator or residents cars may have access to the competition route until this car passes with its GREEN flashing light.

Note: Other vehicles involved in the rally may also be on the Stage either before or after the competition cars. These cars may include CAMS Stewards, Tape & Tag teams, Road crews, Signage teams and other officials.

Another 60+ cars will compete flat out on Riverside Drive in the Targa City Sprint from 9.30am. Then the Quit Targa West cars arrive at 1pm for their laps. At 3.30pm help us congratulate the Quit Targa West Winners at the podium finish celebration on Victoria Ave.
