About Pitch New Works Pitch New Works provides a forum for creators and arts professionals to share and discover new performing arts projects. Ten submissions are selected to "pitch” their new work to more than 400 performing arts professionals from over 50 countries at an ISPA Congress. Selected applicants have seven minutes to pitch their work and three minutes following the pitch to answer delegate questions facilitated by the host. After the pitch session, participants have the opportunity to interact directly with delegates during ISPA’s informal networking session; ProEx (Professional Exchange) where interested parties can inquire about providing project support, premiere dates, touring opportunities, etc. Past presenters in Pitch New Works have included proposals from many of the world’s leading dance, music, and theater artists including, but not limited to: Mark Morris Dance Group and Laurie Anderson (United States), Birmingham Repertory Theatre and Imogen Heap (Great Britain), Chinese Music Virtuosi (Hong Kong), Chunky Move and Force Majeure (Australia), Soundstreams, Tafelmusik and Toronto Dance Theatre (Canada), Emio Greco/PC (Netherlands), Farm in the Cave (Czech Republic), Opera Africa and Farber Foundry (Africa), Tao Dance Theater (China), T’Ang Quartet (Singapore), Swedish Chamber Orchestra (Sweden), and Brussels Jazz Orchestra (Belgium).

Who should apply? Those who are interested in presenting a new project to an international delegation of performing arts industry professionals should consider Pitch New Works. Prospective projects vary in discipline, scale, and country of origin. For the 2016 Melbourne Congress, priority will be given to projects that reflect the diversity and character of the Asia Pacific region. Multi-disciplinary and/or multi-national projects are particularly attractive to ISPA delegates, though all project types and applications will be considered. Prospective projects must meet one of the following criteria:  

Be in development or have had minimal public exposure and will premiere within the next two years OR; Have recently premiered and have a potential for international touring and opportunity for artistic enhancement and expansion but has not yet toured outside its region of origin.

Applicants do not need to be ISPA members. ISPA welcomes all eligible applications.

Terms and Conditions In the event your project is selected to be presented at Pitch New Works, you will agree to and give your consent to the following terms and conditions: 

The pitch presenter(s) outlined in Section III of this application must: a. Attend a technical run-through lasting up to 2 hours, held at 8:15 am in the morning, immediately preceding the Pitch Session. b. Participate in Pitch New Works, the ISPA pitch session, from 10:00am to 12:00pm and ProEx (professional exchange) from 12:00pm to 2:15pm at the Melbourne 2016 ISPA Congress on Friday, June 3rd, 2016 in Melbourne, Australia. The pitch presentation may not include any live performance aspects, may not exceed seven minutes in length, and may not have more than two pitch presenters. ISPA is unable to subsidize participation in, or travel to the pitch session. ISPA will provide the project representative outlined in Section I of this application and the pitch presenter(s) outlined in Section III of this application will a complimentary day pass for the New York 2016 ISPA Congress ISPA Congress on Friday, June 3rd, 2016 (excluding all social activities). Applicants will supply ISPA with a Pitch Video or Image for promotion on the ISPA website. ISPA will advertise and publicize Pitch New Works and may record the pitch session for presentation on the ISPA website or for other non-commercial uses such as news, ISPA promotion, or archival documentation. ISPA has the right to obtain a sponsor(s) for this program, and to determine the appropriate credits to ISPA and the sponsor(s) in all marketing and public relations materials and programs. Selected projects will be promoted on the ISPA website.

Pitch New Works Application at the Melbourne 2016 ISPA Congress Application and Selection Process Candidates should complete the following application form (Section I – Section V) and submit it in a single PDF document via email to [email protected] indicating “Pitch New Works Application” in the subject line of the email. All material should be submitted in English. Please note if you do not receive a confirmation email within 24 hours of submitting your application, your application was not received and you should contact the ISPA office. All applications are to be submitted electronically. Applications must be submitted by Thursday, March 17th, 2016 at 17:00 EDT. This is a final deadline, no extensions or late submissions will be accepted. ISPA regrets that the application materials will not be returned. Applications will be reviewed by the 2016 ISPA Pitch Committee. Candidates will be notified of their application status by April 15th, 2016.

Cost (requested in Section V of the application form) A non-refundable application fee of 50 USD is payable to ISPA upon submission of each application by non-members, or members wishing to submit more than one proposal. See Section V for details.

Instructions for submitting your video clip via YouTube (requested in Section IV of the application form) Please note your video will be "Unlisted" which means that only people who know the unique web address can view it. The video will not appear in any of YouTube's public spaces, such as search results, or the Browse page, but the link can be shared with anyone if you so choose. YouTube videos can up to 2 GB in size and accept a wide variety of formats. If you DO NOT have a YouTube account: 1. Go to www.youtube.com. 2. Click the “Create Account” link located in the upper right hand corner of your computer screen. Your YouTube account is free. Complete the form and click “I accept”. 3. In the “Do you already have a Google Account?” section, follow the directions accordingly. Your Gmail account is free. Complete the appropriate form and click “Sign in” or “Create New Account and Finish” 4. Now that you have created a YouTube/Google account, follow the directions below under “If you DO have a YouTube account:” If you DO have a YouTube account: 1. Go to www.youtube.com. 2. Click the “Sign In” link located in the upper right hand corner of your computer screen. 3. Sign in using your existing YouTube or Google mail account. 4. Click the “Upload” link located to the right of the search toolbar. 5. Click “Upload Video” and select your video clip to upload. Depending on the size of your file, this may take a while. 6. Under “Video Information and Privacy Settings”, type the title of your new work/project in the “Title” field, set the “Privacy” setting to “Unlisted (anyone with the link can view)”, and click “Save changes”. You do not need to complete any of the other fields or sections. 7. Scroll back to the top of your screen. You will see two notices in green bars that say “Your file has been uploaded. We are now processing the video...” and “Your video settings have been saved.” 8. Wait while YouTube finishes processing your video. Once YouTube has finished processing your video, a new notice in a green bar will appear saying “Your video will be live in a moment at: ”. Copy your unique web address and include it with your additional material requested in Section IV of the application form.

Pitch New Works Application at the Melbourne 2016 ISPA Congress Section V: Application Fee Payment A non-refundable application and processing fee of 50 USD is payable to ISPA upon submission of this application for all non-registered applicants. ISPA members are eligible to apply a one-time fee waiver to one project only. If you are an ISPA member, or if an ISPA member is directly connected to the project in the capacity of agent, artist manager, artist, producer, etc., please list the member affiliation below. ISPA members will be contacted to verify their affiliation with the project. It is not necessary for the ISPA member to serve as a pitch presenter to receive the fee waiver.
