STEGH Board successfully recruits next President & CEO (St. Thomas, ON) – St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital (STEGH) Board Chair, Melanie Taylor, announced today that the Board of Governors has successfully recruited the hospital’s next President and CEO to replace Paul Collins, whose contract ends October 31, 2016. “We are pleased to have secured a leader who is dedicated to taking our award-winning hospital to the next level of excellence. Dr. Nancy Whitmore, current Vice President and Chief of Staff at STEGH, will assume the CEO role effective November 1, 2016,” says Taylor. “On behalf of the STEGH Board of Governors and the community I would like to again express our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the exceptional leadership, passion, and dedication that Paul Collins has provided to our hospital and community in his role as President and CEO over the past 15 years,” added Taylor. The Board of Governors created a President and CEO Succession Planning Committee in May 2015 and retained the services of The MedFall Group, a senior healthcare executive recruitment firm in December 2015 to assist in recruitment, selection, and transition of a new President and CEO. “The recruitment process followed due process and, with The MedFall Group’s assistance, we are confident that we have made the best decision for our hospital.” Dr. Whitmore’s salary will be $205,569, which is consistent with the current CEO salary. The contract allows for Dr. Whitmore to continue her clinical duties to a maximum of one day per week and such clinical duties are compensated through the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). A transition plan is in development to ensure a smooth transfer or accountability from Mr. Collins to Dr. Whitmore. -30For more information, contact: Nancy Lawrence, Strategic Communications and Stakeholder Relations Lead, STEGH T: 519-631-2030, ext. 2184 E: [email protected] Dr. Nancy Whitmore – Bio and Photo below
