Hassan Maghaireh will give an insight into predictable strategies for aesthetic implant stability as he has a special interest in both evidence-based implant dentistry and in soft tissue management around dental implants, including immediate placement and loading. Ailsa Nicol is a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and is on the Specialist Lists for Restorative Dentistry, Prosthodontics and Periodontology. Ailsa will discuss her ITI Scholarship, which gave her the opportunity to spend a year at the Centre for Implant Dentistry at the University of Florida and where her implant journey has taken her so far. Ailsa’s aim is to help other dentists understand the opportunities available to further their own careers in implant dentistry.

SPEAKERS Hassan Maghaireh BDS MFDS (Ed) MSc Implants (Manchester) Dr Maghaireh is the head of the Scientific Committee at The British Academy of Implant & Restorative Dentistry (BAIRD). He completed five years training in various maxillofacial units in the UK, gaining his membership in the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh by Examination in May 2005. He then gained a Clinical Masters degree in Implant Dentistry from the University of Manchester, winning the best clinical presentation award in 2008. Dr Maghaireh maintains a private implant referral practice in Leeds, and has been involved with the University of Manchester as a Clinical Lecturer in Implantology on the University of Manchester MSc Programme since 2007.

Dr Ailsa J Nicol BDS, PhD, FDS RCS(Edin), FDS (Rest Dent) RCS (Eng), FHEA Consultant in Restorative Dentistry Ailsa graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1994. Following some time in General Dental Practice, she began a number of Senior House Officer positions in Dumfries and Glasgow. In 1998, she was appointed as a Clinical Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry. In 2004, she began her Specialist Training in Restorative Dentistry, which she completed in 2009. Ailsa is on the Specialist Lists for Restorative Dentistry, Prosthodontics and Periodontology. During her specialist training she was awarded a PhD in Cariology and an ITI Scholarship, which gave her the opportunity to spend a year at the Centre for Implant Dentistry at the University of Florida, Gainesville, USA. Currently, Ailsa is a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
Alistair Bartlett Principal Dentist, I Like My Smile Dental Group Alistair completed the FID in 2013 and has been placing implants in his six surgery mixed practice ever since. Energetic, enthusiastic and open, Alistair understands the difficulties faced by a busy GDP trying to provide excellent dentistry whilst at the same time juggling associates, staff, the bank and those all-important UDAs!
