Essay questions 1. Carbon emissions from flights are eight times as high as emissions from trains. It is time to tax airlines in line with the environmental harm they create. 2. University education should be funded by governments. Every country needs well-educated graduates to drive future growth. 3. 'The world needs to increase food production dramatically in the next 50 years in order to feed a rapidly expanding global population. This can only be achieved with the help of genetically engineered (GE) or genetically modified (GM) food.' Do the advantages of this type of food outweigh the disadvantages? 4. Obesity is a ticking time bomb which will cause healthcare costs to explode. To defuse this situation, all fast-food advertising should be banned.
