Instructions Find an article from a serious newspaper or magazine. If it is from an online source, print a copy of it. First, look through the article and highlight any words you do not know. Do not read it; just identify the unknown words. When you have finished, go back to the beginning and read the article properly. Do not look up the highlighted words in the dictionary; guess their meanings or ignore them. Now answer these questions.

1. What is the overall message of the article?

2. Summarise the key message of each paragraph in one sentence.

3. Are there any unknown words which stop you answering questions 1 and 2? What are they? Look them up in a dictionary and write their definitions below.
