Summer 2015

SPRINGS Tennis Springs Tennis is proud to be running the City of Colorado Springs tennis program. We will lead classes designed for all ages and abilities focusing on fundamentals, instruction, and most importantly FUN! Whether you’ve been playing tennis for years, or have never picked up a tennis racquet, we will have something for you.

JUNIOR CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Other sports don’t ask kids to play an adult game and no longer does tennis. With courts, and equipment just right for their age kids get a game built just for them!

Tennis ABC’s (45-minutes)

For Ages 4-9. This is the perfect start to prepare your child for our 10 and Under programs. Students work on sending/receiving balls, coordination and balance, and racquet control. Movement skills including running, shuffling and jumping are also taught.

Red 1 (45-minutes)

For Ages 5-9. Red 1 is for those who are just starting out in 10 and Under Tennis. Using larger and softer balls and a smaller court, kids learn the basics of tennis including stroke production, footwork, and cooperative play through games and drills designed to promote early success. This class introduces students to all parts of the game and is designed to prepare them to begin to play assisted matches at the next level.

Orange 1 (1-hour)

For ages 7-12. This is our development class using the USTA’S 10 and Under Tennis program. Orange 1 focuses on enhancing the players tennis foundation as well as introducing supervised match play. Skills developed include proper technique for a forehand and a two-handed backhand and basic footwork patterns. Students also learn to serve, volley, and develop directional control, as well as the ability to rally a point.

Green 1 (1-hour)

For Ages 13-18. This program is for middle school and high school players who are new to the game and want to learn how to rally and play tennis quickly. Players learn the fundamentals and basic skills of tennis including ground strokes, volleys, overheads, and serve. Drills and games keep things fresh and offer these future players a chance at early success.
