In addition to tuition, students are charged a Computer Networking Fee of $100 if registered in less than 12 credits &am
SUMMER 2017 SCHEDULE OF CLASSES Registration Appointments Begin February 13.
Students must meet with their academic advisor. The advisor must remove the advising hold in order for the student to register.
If you are currently a student at another university you may take a summer class through the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford as a visiting student. Contact Admissions at 1-800- 872-1787 or
[email protected]. BILLING Students are charged a per credit tuition rate over the summer. In addition to tuition, students are charged a Computer Networking Fee of $100 if registered in less than 12 credits & $175 if over 12 credits. Other course specific fees may apply. This includes Internships. The University of Pittsburgh does not mail paper bills. Once you have registered for classes charges are created for the term. An e-mail notification is sent to your Pitt e-mail account notifying you when your eBill is ready to view. You may access your eBill by following these directions:
Go to my.pitt.edu and log on using the username and password assigned to you by the University. Select the link to PittPAY Click on “view account” Select from the drop down menu the option to “view most recent eBill.”
Payment is due on the 17th of the month following your first eBill notice, unless you are enrolled in a payment plan (see Payment Plan option under PittPAY menu). Credit card and echeck payments are accepted online in PittPAY. No fee for echeck but if you pay by American Express, Discover or MasterCard there is a 2.75% service fee charged by our vendor. Enrollment Services accepts cash or check payments.
SESSIONS We strongly encourage students to register for all summer courses they plan to take as soon as possible. Course enrollment is evaluated just prior to the start of each session. A course may be cancelled if less than seven students are enrolled. Adding and Dropping a summer course does change your credit load and charges. When you withdraw from a course you are still charged for the course.
Enrollment for summer sessions begins 2/13/17

Descriptions for Selected Summer 2017 Courses: (Descriptions for all other courses found in the Pitt-Bradford catalog)
BIOL 1450 Topics in Biology: Ornithology (3): Covers avian characteristics, structure and function, and avian adaptations to flight. Life history, conservation, and identification of the common species of birds in Pennsylvania will be emphasized. Students will be expected to learn the equipment, techniques, and record keeping used in avian research. The course will include outdoor lectures and field trips. ENVSTD 1450 Special Topics Natural Resources and Public Land Management (3): Natural Resource and Public Lands Management: History, Politics and Practice” is intended to introduce you to the history, political processes, public institutions, and natural resource laws and practices informing and shaping their management. After completing the course, you should (1) be able to understand how history and politics have shaped, and continue to shape, public lands management programs; (2) be familiar with major natural resource laws and agencies; (3) be capable of rationally analyzing and participating in current resource issues; (4) be capable of writing and speaking clearly about natural resource policies; and (5) be familiar with the general requirements of the NEPA environmental assessment structure and process. HMGT 1450 Special Topics Introduction to Revenue Management (3): The course provides an introduction to revenue management by examining its history, concepts, developments, current practices, and terms necessary to understand revenue management. Students will explore essential concepts in customer behavior, competitive sets and analysis, and the revenue management cycle, and chain and independent hotel performances The course will include an introduction to pricing strategies, distribution channels, and basic metrics and calculations for a revenue manager. Students will examine the implementation of a revenue management strategy and examine its place within the organization using STR reports from Smith Travel Research. Upon successful completion of a certification exam, students will obtain a Certified Hotel Industry Analytics Certification Credential. The exam and certification are optional and would require an additional $75 fee. PEDC 0176 Canoeing (1): This course is offered in conjunction with the Allegheny River Scholars program that was established in 1997. There are summer and fall sections available for this course but both sections go on the same trip. There is an additional fee of $200 that covers the cost of transportation, camping, equipment, and food. That’s right, meals are included, and nobody goes hungry (trust me). This additional fee must be paid through Enrollment Services. Once it is paid you will be registered in the course. The canoe trip is scheduled for August 4-6 with an orientation on the evening of the 3rd. Spaces are limited, we only have 20 seats available. Also, if you would like to bring a guest, you can do so by informing Enrollment Services. The $200 fee would still apply for guests not participating for credit. PEDC 0250 Special Topics: Archery (1): This course provides the student with the basic knowledge and understanding of the sport of archery. Students will learn the fundamental skills, strategies and rules of archery.
The Pymatuning Laboratory of Ecology (PLE) is a superb year-round facility that is part of Pitt's Department of Biology. Located in Northwestern Pennsylvania on the shores of beautiful Pymatuning Lake, PLE is dedicated to serving the academic community and visitors from around the world. This summer Pitt Bradford faculty member, Dr. Denise Piechnik will be an instructor at Pymatuning! Details:
2 hour drive from Pittsburgh. Most courses span 3 weeks. Prerequisite courses: BIOL 0101 & 0102 or special permission. Students pay tuition and required fees at the Pitt Bradford rate. Students are charged an additional $155 lab fee per class. Books are purchased directly at PLE. If students plan to live at PLE rather than commute there is a $510 room & board fee for each 3 week course (this is not part of your tuition bill). This is paid at PLE via cash or check made out to Univ. of Pittsburgh (no credit cards). Check out the website: http://www.biology.pitt.edu/facilities/pymatuning Contact at Pitt Bradford: Dr. Mary Mulcahy
