Glass Fusing for Little Hands

Ages 4 and up (with an adult companion)

Kids can spend quality time with an adult family member while exploring the fascinating and fun art of glass fusing! Adults and children will work together to combine an assortment of safe precut glass forms to create a range of shapes, colors, and designs. Participants will learn important color and design techniques, which can be applied to any area of art. All materials will be provided. Taught by Nancy Miller. SATURDAY, JULY 19, 12:30 – 2:30PM. Art For Two

The Art of Glass Fusing with Nancy Miller

Express your individual creativity while learning the steps of how fused glass art is made. Learn how to cut and break glass safely and to design your own piece of fused glass art from start to finish. You will also gain insight into glass compatibility, firing times, temperatures and the different stages of fusing that can be done in a kiln. Students will learn fascinating techniques that expand design possibilities. All materials provided. Saturday, August 2, 11:30am - 1:30pm

Friday Night Figure Study

We offer studio sessions with a figure model: Life (nude) and Portrait (clothed). Sessions are uninstructed with a facilitator, providing an opportunity for artists to work independently, practice, and refine their skills. Please register in advance for 3-week sessions, a minimum of 4 students is required to book a model for sitting. Space limited to 10 students. Please bring your favorite drawing or painting materials. Fridays: 6:30 - 9:00pm. Session 1: July 11, 18, 25; Session 2: August 8, 15, 22 TUITION: $55; MEMBER: $45 (per 3-week session); walk-ins: $20 at the door (calling ahead is recommended)

Students will be introduced to a variety of techniques and materials, from printmaking and sculpting to paints and pastels. The Handmade Photo-Book with Colin Edgington

Offered by the Hunterdon Art Museum in partnership with Raritan Valley Community College.  Learn the basics of photo-bookmaking through digital media and hand book binding. We will consider the various possibilities the photograph and other creative elements can have through the handmade book format. The class will concentrate on individual book projects (students can bring current ones or start fresh) while examining historic and contemporary examples. We will explore pre-visualization, image selection, sequencing, page design, hand bookbinding, and finesse output through advanced inkjet printing techniques. SUMMER CAMP PROGRAM

Lunch With the Bunch (12:00 – 1:00pm)

Summer Camp registration is NOW OPEN. There are multiple ways to save over $100.00.

We offer supervised lunchtime for summer campers, Monday through Friday. LWTB is directed by camp staff and volunteers; activities include games and/or walks to downtown Clinton, the Red Mill Museum and other nearby destinations (weather permitting). Please bring a nut free bag lunch.

1) Purchase a Family Museum Membership. All members receive reduced tuition.

2) Register before May 20th and save $20 on each camp tuition and $10 on most other summer programs. Important Notes for Parents and Guardians: Camps run one week, Monday through Friday. Each week is structured in mostly half day camps (AM and PM); students can create a “mix and match” schedule to enjoy different art activities from week to week. Some camps are pre-scheduled to run a full day and are indicated as such. Please have students bring a nut free snack, a smock, and a box to carry home their creations. Also, don’t forget to sign out at the end of your program! Look for camp staff at the Museum entrance. ALL children must be signed out by a parent or a parent representative before leaving. Through demonstration and hands on opportunities, students immerse themselves in the basics of using their digital camera and progress to an intermediate level during a concentrated learning experience.  We will cover camera operation, shutter speed and aperture; resolution selection, using the in-camera light meter for better exposure compensation, white balance, tips on good composition and use of accessories. Students will explore how artists of past and present have used animals to inspire them, and see how animals inspire us. Intro to Video

Learn the art of video from producer Jim Pruznick and artist Noah Klersfeld. This course introduces students to the basic elements of video including lighting, framing, composition, camera movement, editing and sound. Through discussion, demonstration, and hands on camera work, students will learn technique, artistic considerations and creative point of view. Your imagination and ideas in paint!  Students will learn tips and tricks for painting with acrylics, which are very versatile. Acrylics can be used right out of the tube or made thinner or thicker with mediums that yield fun and unique results. Fashion: Sewing and Construction Ages 9 – 11; AM

Learn to create a piece of clothing from start to finish using a sewing machine. Make an illustration, select fabric, create a pattern and sew away! A true studio art camp for the beginning artist or someone developing their skills. SUMMER CAMP AFTER-CARE (4:00 to 5:00pm)

After-care is available for any camper attending 2014 “Follow Your Art” Summer Camp at the Hunterdon art Museum, Monday-Friday, June 23 until August 22. There will be no camp or after-care on Friday, July 4. After-care is directed by camp staff and volunteers. Supervised activities during after-care vary, but may include free art time, board games, pleasure reading, and walks to downtown Clinton, the Red Mill Museum and other nearby destinations (weather permitting). A daily snack will be provided.

Pick-Up Pick-up is anytime between 4:00 - 5:00pm. Children must be signed

out by a parent/guardian or his/her designee (only when advance written notice has been given to the camp). A $10 late pick-up fee is charged if the child is picked up between 5:00 - 5:10 p.m. and an additional $1 per minute is charged after 5:10 p.m. Advance notice of late arrival by the parent/guardian does not nullify the late fee. If your child is scheduled to attend after-care and you have a change of plans, please notify the camp as soon as possible.

Drop-Ins Campers not pre-registered for after-care may “drop-in” on a spaceavailable basis. To register for drop-in after-care, please send an e-mail to [email protected] or call the Museum 908-735-8415. Payment for drop-in after-care must be made the day of service. Receipts If you would like a receipt for after-care or one combining camp classes with after-care, please submit a request in writing to our Education Coordinator, April Anderson, at [email protected]. • Registration: Programs are held in the Museum’s galleries and studios unless otherwise noted. Registration is accepted on line, by phone, mail or in person. Registration must be in advance. Enrollment will not be guaranteed until full payment is received. • Change, Withdrawal and Refund Policy: A $25 non-refundable processing fee applies for each change (individual course) made to a registration. Students wishing to withdraw from a class or workshop should send written notification via email to [email protected] or via mail postmarked two

weeks (14 days) prior tothe start of a class or workshop. Students withdrawing two weeks or more in advance of a class or workshop will receive a full refund minus 10%. Withdrawals or cancellations made less than two weeks before the start of a class or workshop will receive no refund or credit. If HAM cancels a class, a full refund will be given, otherwise, there will be NO refund after a class begins. • Students missing classes by their own decision or withdrawing after classes begin will not receive a refund, credit, or make-up day.

• Credit Card/Check Policy: A $25 fee will be charged for rejected credit cards and returned checks. • Behavioral Policy: Please be advised that in cases of noncompliant behaviors, the Museum reserves the right to remove a student from class. • Sign Out: All children must be signed out of the Museum at the end of class. • Instructor Substitutions: HAM reserves the right to substitute instructors of an equal caliber for any class or workshop.

• Weather: In the event of inclement weather, please call the Museum to determine whether a class has been cancelled. NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS POLICY: HAM makes calls to students only in the case of a class cancellation. Students should assume their class is running unless they are informed otherwise.
