State History Day Competition 2018 Distinguished Alumni Inductees DC Trip Odyssey of the Mind World Finals Memorial Day Parade Berks’ Best Graduation 2018 Retirees

State History Day Competition ★

State winners Isabella (Gr. 9) and Dominick (Gr. 7) Pizzellanti will compete in the National HD Competition in College Park, MD.

★

Isabella will compete in the Senior Individual Exhibit category with “Cutting the First Furrow: Patsy Mink, Gender Discrimination, and Title IX”.

★

Dominick will compete in the Junior Individual Exhibit category with “We Have No Army: Branch Rickey’s Mission to Desegregate Baseball”.

State History Day Competition ★

Additional State Competitors included: ○ Abigail Herrlin ○ Grayce Berk ○ Kaylen Leiby ○ Logan Boyer ○ Matthew Hill ○ Julian Tich ○ Silas Bealer ○ Samuel Arnold



2018 Distinguished Alumni Inductees ★

Julie Stark worked in visual effects on major motion pictures, for which her team won the 2013 Oscar for Best Visual Effects. Since, she has returned to Berks County to establish Stark Juice LLC in Kempton, PA.

★

Keith Haring (1958-1990), one of the most renowned artists of the late 20th century, through his art, commented on socio-political issues. He established a foundation that continues to support non-profit organizations that assist underprivileged children.



DC Trip ★

Students met with Senator Casey outside of the Foreign Relations Committee Meeting Room and were granted the opportunity to ask 5 or 6 questions.



Odyssey of the Mind World Finals ★

The team gave an outstanding performance, and their tower held 710 pounds.

Took 13th place out of the top 45 teams from all over the US and the World.
