TALKING BOOKS

What is the Talking Book Service? A free national library program providing books and magazines that are recorded for people who need to "hear" their reading.

Who is Eligible? Children and adults of all ages who cannot read regular print books due to: -Blindness

Talking Books are played on special cartridge players provided free by the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (a division of the Library of Congress.)

-Low Vision -A physical disability that prevents holding a book or turning a page

Books and magazines are selected on the basis of their appeal to people of all ages with a wide range of interests. There are a growing number of titles recorded in Spanish. The Lee County Talking Books Library provides the FREE service to those who qualify. It is supported through a combination offederal, state and local funds. The cartridges and the equipment on which to play them are loaned free and mailed back to us postage-free. We also send each reader catalogs listing available titles. There is no charge to you when equipment is repaired.
