Events/Giving to UCSF: The 7th Annual Terry Patters Golf Tournament and Wine Tour Benefiting the UCSF Melanoma Center
When Terry Patters was told she had only several months to live, she said quietly, "That's not long enough." She passed away from Melanoma on August 8, 2010. Among many things, Terry enjoyed being with her family and friends and enjoyed playing golf at Poppy Ridge Golf Course in Livermore, California. Beginning in 2011, in honor of Terry's memory and to raise funds to fight melanoma, the most serious type of skin cancer, Terry's family decided to hold an annual golf tournament to raise funds to fight this serious and deadly disease. The Terry Patters Memorial Foundation, Inc., a non-‐profit organization, was formally established in February 2015 and continues to host an annual fundraiser in the month of August. To date, the Foundation has raised over $172,000 for melanoma research. "Skin cancer is a private disease, but the tournament is not a private event", says Dave Patters, Sr., Terry's husband of 36 years and the Foundation’s President. "Terry was a fun gal. We want everyone to come out and feel welcome”. This has been the tournament's motto for 7 years and we are proud to continue the tradition each year. The tournament and wine tour will be held on Friday, August 11th at Poppy Ridge Golf Course in Livermore, California. For more information and to register, please click https://tinyurl.com/TPMF2017.
