ATTENDANCE NEWS Research shows that good attendance helps children to fulfil their potential and gives them a better chance of a better future. At Greenfields, we are committed to ensuring that every child fulfils their potential; therefore from September we will be using the ‘Traffic Light’ system used by the Education Welfare Team and the majority of other schools in North Tyneside to promote good attendance. Danger Zone ~ inadequate attendance ~ 90% or less = Red At Risk Zone ~ attendance that requires improvement ~ between 90% and 95.9% = Amber Safety Zone ~ good attendance ~ 96% or more = Green

Your child’s end of year report tells you his or her attendance % for this school year, so you can see whether they were Green, Amber or Red in 2014/15. Please read the attached Attendance Information Leaflet to see what the ‘Traffic Light’ system means for you and your child.

When you are getting ready for the new school year, PLEASE make sure that names are inside all items of clothing, including coats and PE kit, so that any lost clothing can be returned to the right person as soon as possible. Uniform will be on sale from the school office on Tuesday 1st September 9am-12am, then every Monday and Wednesday morning.

BOOK FAIR NEWS Thank you to the volunteers and to everyone who supported us to make last week’s Book Fair such a success. We sold £482 worth of books, which has generated £192 for the school to spend on new books for the classrooms in September.

FINALLY . . . The staff and governors would like to say a huge THANK YOU to the Greenfields’ parents and carers for working together with us this school year for the benefit of the children. Together we really do make a fantastic Greenfields TEAM.

We hope that you all have a great summer break and look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Thursday 3rd September for the start of the new school year.
