NICS / OPW Art Exhibition 12TH December 2016 6th January 2017 Admission: Free

“Interesting and Weird at the Same Time” - IAWATST The OPW and DoF are delighted to collaborate with Dublin City Council/The LAB Gallery on the IAWATST exhibition. The project involved working with children from 4th class and their teachers from the Central Model School in Dublin. The children visited the offices of the OPW in Dublin and DoF in Belfast

to select artworks. Using the Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) method of teaching, the LAB team led lively discussions with the young curators which resulted in the selection of 20 artworks. “Interesting and Weird at the Same Time” - IAWATST is the intriguing title for the exhibition which reflects the children’s fresh and open responses to the project.

Marks of Time Strabane 16TH January - 10TH February 2017 Admission: Free

A watercolour exhibition charting the history of Strabane through its buildings. The Barony of Strabane in County Tyrone has a wealth of historic buildings and features which combine to make a place of great variety and interest and reflect a long and often turbulent history. This exhibition looks at how this history is revealed by the built structures of the area. In 50 watercolour sketches, supplemented by brief explanatory 4

notes, the architecture of the region and how it relates to wider national and international trends is explored. Illustrations range from the Mesolithic wedge tombs, to Plantation Castles, industrial development, ideal villages and modern regeneration. For further information on the wider project go to www.marksoftime.com To coincide with the exhibition Manus will give an illustrated talk incorporating further sketches.

The Hen Night Epiphany 19th April 2017, 8pm Tickets: £10 & £8 concession

Should some secrets never be kept no matter what the cost? Five women come together to help clear out a run-down cottage a week before the wedding of its new owner, Una. Joining her on this hen night of sorts are her two best friends, Kelly and Triona, her soon to be mother-in-law, Olive, and Olive’s best friend, Anta. But Una is keeping a secret that, if revealed, will destroy all hopes

of her dream wedding and living happily ever after with the love of her life. As the play unfolds we see the women, one by one, forced to confront awkward truths of their own. NTC have been in existence for a few years now, this will be their third year on the circuit. The group performed Frank Mc Guinness`s “The Factory Girls” last year to great success and are very much looking forward to the 2017 Festivals. Book Online at www.alleytheatre.com
