The Ankeny Alliance, a collaboration between the Ankeny Chamber of Commerce, The Ankeny Economic Development Corporation and the City of Ankeny, is seeking to hire an independent contractor/consultant to facilitate the Ankeny Leadership Institute (ALI) program. The purpose of the Ankeny Leadership Institute is to enhance the personal leadership skills of participants, increase their insight on issues facing our community and inspire participants to become involved in community leadership roles. ALI strives to accomplish the following goals for participants:    

Understand the various aspects that make Ankeny a great community and be able to describe their inter-dependencies. Recognize the principles of exemplary leadership and be able to demonstrate these skills in the community and on the job. Expand/diversify their network and leverage it for personal and professional development. Know the various leadership opportunities in our community and select one that matches their interests.

The ideal candidate would possess the following skills:    

Familiarity with the Ankeny community Background in teaching\facilitation Leadership teaching experience or equivalent hands-on experience Strong organization skills

The ALI program year typically runs from September through April, with classes held on the second Tuesday of each month. The class will meet from 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM for six regular program sessions. Two class project sessions will also be held at times that work best for the class. There will be a marketing event, welcome/alumni reception and graduation dinner, each lasting between 1-2 hours. Consultant is expected to attend and lead each of the sessions throughout the program year. It is expected that all class sessions, miscellaneous events, and Board meetings will require approximately 54 hours of the Consultant’s time during the program year.
